COSTA RICA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Below we've mapped out exactly what you need to do and complete in order to enter Costa Rica. Our hope is that these instructions will not only help in planning your travels accordingly but this will also provide you with a clear checklist to ensure everything is taken care of in a timely manner.

TRAVELERS' TASKS

2. Complete the digital Health Pass Form (explained below)

3. As visiting guests of another country, please read through our website and conduct additional research to best understand how to comply with Costa Rica's travel policies.

HEALTH PASS FORM

The Costa Rica Health Pass was designed to screen international arrivals in order to minimize the risks associated with the coronavirus pandemic, however it DOES NOT replace a visa or passport.

WHO NEEDS TO COMPLETE THIS?

Everyone! :)

INSTRUCTIONS

- From the website shared below, you can complete your Health Pass and obtain a QR Code to show to airport authorities upon arrival to Costa Rica. Your application and Costa Rica Health Pass will also be sent to you via email before your trip, so you can show it to the authorities when you get to the airport.

- ALL TRAVELERS must fill out the Costa Rica Health Pass within 72 hours of departing, with the exception of children under the age of 2 years old. Underage travelers’ legal parents or guardians should fill it out on their behalf.

- Read through instructions and complete.

COVID-19 & TRAVEL INSURANCE

As of August 1, 2021, all tourists who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and inoculated with Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson can enter the country without a travel policy. The last dose of the vaccine must have been applied at least 14 days before arrival in Costa Rica.

VACCINATED TOURISTS

As proof, vaccination certificates and vaccination cards that contain at least the following information will be accepted:

1. Name of the person who received the vaccine
2. Date of each dose
3. Pharmaceutical house
* In the case of U.S. travelers, the "COVID-19 vaccination record card" will be accepted.

UNVACCINATED TOURISTS

Travelers are not required to show proof of vaccination to enter the country, but unvaccinated travelers must purchase a travel insurance policy that is valid for at least 5 days which covers costs for COVID-19 care and quarantine, if it becomes necessary. There are the international policies for which insurance companies and requirements are necessary for this to be completed.

In saying that, guests that are traveling to Costa Rica should be ready to present proof of vaccination in order to enter businesses (including hotels and restaurants) starting January 2022.
