How We Met

Well like most gay guys now and days, it all started with a hook-up.

Essentially, we met on Grindr, had little fun, and then the rest they say is history.

Proposal

Collin is a huge fan of Jackie Kennedy. With living in the DC Metro area, Collin was looking at how and where JFK proposed to Jackie-O. He found that JFK proposed in a small restaurant in Georgetown called Martin's Tavern.

I took that information and kept it in the back of my mind, because I know when the time would come, I wanted the evening to be amazing and unique. Like how many people can say they were proposed to in the same place as their favorite First Lady was.

As the time drew near, I made a reservation at Martin's Tavern for evening of March 6, 2021. I even tried to get the same booth that the Kennedy's proposal took place, but with the pandemic, that booth was being skipped to keep with social distancing. Collin already knew what was going to happen when we came to the restaurant, but I was still nervous as hell.

We enjoyed our amazing appetizer, our decadent entries, and then dessert came. I knew I couldn't wait any longer.

I am not a flashy guy by any stretch of the imagination. As we were going to start on dessert, I asked to hold Collin's hand, started tearing up, and I told him that I loved him with all my heart and that I would like to spend the rest of my life with him and wanted to know if he would marry me.

Right after dinner was over and left the restaurant, we immediately called our parents, from the street, to tell them the wonderful news.
