Attire

Italy is a very fashion-conscious country, respectful of traditions and customs. While there is no formal dress code, a good rule of thumb is that it's better to be over dressed than under.  Linen is a great alternative to cotton given Rome's summer humidity. Men may consider taking a travel blazer and it's suggested for women to bring a shawl given that shoulders must be covered when entering a cathedral or church.

Transportation

Transportation in and around Rome is good. Options vary from Uber, Taxis and Buses, among others. Hop-On-Hop-Off buses are also available, but are generally considered tours. While large, the city remains walkable in most parts.

Hop-On-Hop-Off Buses

Hop-On-Hop-Off buses are a great way of seeing the city of Rome. Though generally considered to be a tour, passengers can hop-on and hop-off the bus at any of the destinations giving you the freedom to come and go as you please and stay as long as you’d like. There are several companies that off these bus tours, each providing a slightly different route around the city, with some selling one, two and three-day passes that must be used on consecutive days.
