If you haven't booked your tickets already, we advise that you do so ASAP as it is peak season in New Zealand and Queenstown is very small. Please note that if you are flying from Asia, you land the day after. So for example, if you fly on the 26th Dec, you will land on the 27th Dec the following day.

Certain passports require visas including China passports and processing times can be quite long, so we advise our guests to begin this process asap.

All other passports (excluding New Zealand and Australia) require a NZeta as of Oct 1 2019. This can be applied online at www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/about-visa/nzeta for a fee. Please apply for this when you book your ticket so not to forget.

When you arrive, your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure date.

We recommend connecting in New Zealand if you hold a China passport, as connecting in Australia requires a transit visa which cannot be applied for online. If you are transiting via Australia, please check if a transit visa is required for your passport type. If your passport type doesn't require a transit visa in Australia, this is the preferred connecting destination as usually the luggage is checked straight through to your final destination Queenstown, unlike Auckland. Please check with your travel agent when you are booking your flight. If you choose a connecting flight via Auckland. At the Auckland airport, you must pick up your luggage and re-check in for your connection flight. Please make sure that you calculate enough time between the two flights (at least 2h) to avoid any inconvenience.

Tipping in New Zealand is not obligatory, even in restaurants and bars. However, tipping for good service or kindness is at the discretion of the visitor. Hotels and restaurants in New Zealand do not add service charges to their bills.

All goods and services are subject to a 15% Goods and Services Tax (GST) included in the displayed price. Visitors cannot claim this tax back, however when a supplier ships a major purchase to a visitor's home address the GST will not be charged.

Weather in New Zealand can change unexpectedly. Even though it is summertime during months Dec-Feb and temperatures can go as high as 21 - 32°C (70 - 90F) during the day, temperatures can drop as low as 4°C (39F) at night. Self-drive is a popular way to explore New Zealand. Roads are well-maintained and sign-posted within Queenstown, and spectacular scenery awaits around every corner. If you are adventurous and want to explore the wilderness, it is better to rent a four-wheel drive but if you are only driving around the town center a normal car will suffice. You can legally drive in New Zealand for 12 months if you have either a current full driver’s licence from your home country in the English language or an International Driving Permit. You must carry your licence or permit at all times when driving and you are only able to drive the same types of vehicles you are licensed to drive in your home country.

Uber & taxis are also an available option for getting around town.

Opportunities for water travel are almost everywhere in New Zealand. You can ferry from the North Island to the South Island or simply catch a water taxi that will get you from A to B.
