Definitely the coolest church-turned-hotel that you will ever stay at.
If you are a nerd for architectural history (or cool spaces in general), you should check out Hotel Peter and Paul. Once a 19th-century church, convent, and rectory, the property was shuttered in the early 90's and sat vacant for years until it was revived and turned into the hotel you see today. Located at the edge of the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood, it's just a 3 block walk to the ceremony site. Even if you aren't staying at Peter and Paul, the Elysian Bar on site in the old rectory space is certainly worth a visit, serving up smart cocktails and dishes by local Bywater darling Bacchanal.

If you are looking for a larger hotel in a great location, check out New Orleans Mariott on Canal Street. With Bourbon Street and Harrah's Casino both two blocks away, there are plenty of nearby options for a good time.

If you really want to soak in all the flavors of New Orleans, grab a rental through airbnb. Not only is it a great option for families and larger groups, but between the shotgun homes of the Marigny, to the balconied townhomes of the French Quarter, to the mansions of the Garden District, you are bound to find whatever flavor suits your mood.
