Carli and Tony "met" in September of 2017. As many single millennials do, Carli and Tony found themselves perusing a dating app to pass time. For those of you that don’t know, dating app matches are based on location. Carli, who was living in D.C. at the time, was in Cleveland for the weekend, staying less than a mile away from Tony. Carli and Tony quickly got to talking. The conversation continued through the weekend. After Tony finally built up the courage to ask Carli on a date, she had already returned D.C.

For whatever reason, the two continued to exchange texts knowing full well the likelihood that they would even meet was small. Texts turned to phone calls which turned to video calls. After three months of talking over the phone, Carli returned to Cleveland for a weekend trip and the two decided to go on their first date. To no one’s surprise, the first date went amazingly well but it would be another month before Carli moved to Cleveland to finish up her graduate degree.

There aren’t many success stories that result from dating apps, so Carli and Tony knew not to get their hopes up. Once Carli moved to Cleveland in January 2018, she wasted no time making plans to see Tony again. Their second date occurred the day after Carli's move. Carli and Tony's relationship rapidly blossomed and after just a few weeks, they knew they found “the one.”

Soon after they started dating, they found a shared appreciation for music by the artist Yoke Lore. The songs always remind them of each other. On March 14, 2019, Tony proposed in the middle of a Yoke Lore concert here in Cleveland. Carli, without a doubt in her mind, said YES!!

Carli and Tony had a very busy 2019. After the engagement, they decided to build a house together! While they are the busiest they have ever been, they couldn't be happier.

When Carli and Tony decided to postpone their wedding, they were obviously upset. As the original wedding date approached, they decided to take advantage of that day and get married. They would not allow for COVID-19 to rain on their parade! Carli and Tony held a small ceremony on their front porch with just their parents and siblings in attendance. It ended up being the perfect day.
