Juan and Brittany met in the way many millennials and young professionals meet in the 21st Century — via dating app. Brittany recalls re-downloading the app after having given up on it years before and matching with Juan within days. Juan, being the direct, decisive person he is, did not waste time with small talk and asked if Brittany was available to meet up for a date the following week. He invited her out for drinks at The Regents in Buckhead Village (formerly The Shoppes at Buckhead) without knowing that this was Brittany’s favorite hangout in Atlanta. What they had both expected to be a quick weekday date that ended in time to be in bed by a reasonable hour before work the following day, turned into 7+ hours of drinks, conversation, gelato, and restaurant/bar hopping. They each remember feeling that the conversation was easy, that the connection was instant, and that they had known each other for far longer than a few hours. Brittany distinctly remembers having the ever-so-fleeting thought, ‘’I could marry this guy…’’ Turns out that little voice was right in the end.
Brittany and Juan had a whirlwind romance over the course of the next several years. Juan whisked her away to the Ritz Carlton at Lake Oconee for her birthday weekend only a few weeks after meeting; they indulged in their love of travel with trips to Chicago, Miami, NYC, and other fave cities over the following months, and in March of the following year, found themselves unexpectedly quarantined together. This strange time and circumstance solidified their relationship and made clear how much they enjoyed each other’s company — even around the clock without any hope of escape. During quarantine, they cooked together, drank lots of wine, watched lots of Netflix, and chilled… Two years after meeting, Brittany and Juan discovered even more love than they had found in each other when they welcomed Mila, the love of their lives, into the world. The trio has been happily building a life and finding new ways to grow, learn, and love together ever since.

Brittany and Juan have had countless travels and adventures over the years, but one of the best (and most terrifying) was the time Brittany gifted Juan a private flight lesson for Christmas. On the day of the flight, she immediately realized how big of a mistake this gift had been and how awful his timing was in redeeming it (she had just found out she was pregnant, and there were scattered storms all over Georgia on the day of the flight). Juan piloted the entire flight solo, and thankfully, they made it back to ground alive. One day, it'll all be worth it when they can share with Mila that her first flight was in utero with her dad as pilot.

At Mila’s first birthday party, Brittany, exhausted from the day’s planning, preparing, and decorating, was nearly delusional by the end of the day. She had anticipated this beforehand, so had asked Juan to make closing remarks to their guests and to thank them for coming to celebrate Mila’s birthday. Having rallied everyone together for goodbyes, she stood by and listened, amused, as Juan recited the very words she had suggested he use to thank everyone. Then he unexpectedly deviated from the script… Before anyone knew what was happening, Juan was down on one knee with a ring in hand. He asked if Brittany would honor him with her hand in marriage, and she happily obliged.
