Let's go waaaaaaaaaaay back to 2008. Hunter and Jenn are in sixth grade at Westfield Intermediate School. Hunter develops a crush on Jenn (no, they hadn’t even really talked, he just thought she was a little cutie) and decides to ask her to be his girlfriend. Hunter has a friend record him saying “Will you be my girlfriend?” on a video camera (yes, this was pre- iPhone era), and said friend brought the video footage to Jenn during recess. Jenn records a response, “Yes” to be taken back to Hunter. And the two “dated” happily ever after…. for about a week before moving on to their next crushes.
Flash forward to 2015, Hunter and Jenn are seniors in high school. The two have remained friends all these years, but have grown especially close over the last few years. They go to prom together senior year and find themselves eager to hangout over the summer. As fate would have it, they would both be going to IU Bloomington for their undergrad. Fun fact, neither Jenn or Hunter applied anywhere other than IU. Before the summer was over, the two find themselves spending nearly every day together. Bike rides, trips to Handel’s Ice Cream, Indians baseball games, pool days. Eventually they had a moment where they realized they might have rekindled the crush from their pre teen years. With the foundation of their bestfriendship, they decided to give the dating thing another go!
Hunter studied Public Finance and Jenn studied Public Health and Psychology. Many date nights were spent in the wee hours of the night at the library studying together.These years were full of growth and learning, and always full of love. They graduated IU Bloomington in 2019, and moved back to Indianapolis to take on more school! Hunter pursued his JD and Jenn completed her BSN.
Covid came and this spurred Hunter’s eagerness to get a puppy. Jenn was starting her nursing career and very hesitant initially, but as a lawyer does, Hunter was able to provide adequate evidence to support the motion. So one Friday evening, the two traveled to Kentucky to pick up what would be their greatest decision as a team, Leo! Shortly after, they moved into their first apartment together. Many firsts were had here- grocery runs together, cooking dinners together, furnishing their first home together, hosting friends and family at their place…… sharing a bathroom, figuring out who is messier, who lets Leo out in the morning, who the morning person is, and exactly how picky of an eater (Hunter) one is.
Fast forward again… It’s 2023. Hunter and Jenn are growing in their careers and loving their little life together. All is happy and ALL of their friends and family and coworkers and anyone who meets them is wondering when they plan to get married. August comes and they share an exciting step in their relationship- no, they’re not engaged!!!! But they did buy a house- with the perfect backyard for Leo! So they settle in and build their first home together. They reflect on how much they have done together and how they have remained a strong team to get to this point.
They joy of spending the Holidays in their first home together is upon them. It’s November and Jenn’s sisters and mom are in town and staying at their house for Thanksgiving weekend. Hunter and Jenn have a plan to pick out their first real Christmas tree at a local pine nursery, and Hunter has an even bigger plan in mind.
On November 25,2023, Hunter proposed to Jenn, and she said “YES”!
