1. The closest airport to Destin is the Northwest Florida Regional Airport (recently rebranded as Destin – Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS). It is located off Eglin Parkway with quick access to the city, a 16 miles distance made in less than 30 minutes by car.

Tips: Allegiant Airlines has a direct flight every Wednesday and Saturday flying out from Rockford airport. 

2. Pensacola International Airport - 51 miles to Destin, travel time by car 1h 15 min. 

Tips:  Flying out from O'Hare International Airport: United Airlines is operating a direct flight; Delta Airlines and American Airlines both have over 1 hour layovers.  Southwest Airlines out of Midway has also a direct flight to Pensacola International Airport

Chicago, Il - Destin, Fl: distance of 920 miles, approximately 14 hours drive

Tips: To access Destin from U.S. Highway 98  you'll have to pass the Mid-Bay Bridge (3.6 miles two-lane bridge which crosses Choctawhatchee Bay). A 4$ cash toll is required to pass the bridge.
