The Westin Governor Morris

We have arranged for a special group rate of $125 per night at the Westin Governor Morris. A dedicated room block will be available and this rate will be in effect for the evenings of Thursday, October 10th through Sunday, October 13th.

UPDATE (8/23): There are no more Traditional rooms with two double beds at the $125 rate. (Traditional rooms with a King bed are still available at this rate.) Upgraded Deluxe rooms with two double beds, however, are available for $145 per night.

Flights

The Westin Governor Morris is located approximately 20 miles northwest of Newark Liberty International, a major airport with representations from most of the major US air carriers. We would encourage guests to utilize this airport over the other major New York hubs (i.e. LaGuardia & JFK), as travel from those airports requires going through Manhattan - which, given traffic, can make the journey significantly longer.

Location Pics
Restaurants & Bars

Local Restaurant: Blue Morel

Conveniently located within the Westin Governor Morris, the Blue Morel Restaurant and Wine Bar is consistently rated one of the top restaurants in New Jersey. Though slightly pricey and a bit gourmet, the atmosphere and food are worth it.

Local Restaurant: The Famished Frog

Centrally located off of Morristown's town green, the Famished Frog is a casual, comfort food cafe where Joel and his mom had dinner once a week while Joel was at Drew. If you're looking for something low-key yet tasty, this is a solid choice.

Local Restaurant: Shanghai Jazz

Located in nearby Madison, home to Joel's extended family, Shanghai Jazz offers warm hospitality, gourmet Asian cuisine, a well-focused wine list and a full bar with almost a dozen beers on tap. More uniquely, Shanghai Jazz presents world class jazz artists 6 nights a week with no music charge except for special events. Indeed, Shanghai Jazz was named one of the top 100 Jazz Clubs in the World!

New York Restaurant: Crispo

One of our most recent favorites, Crispo is where we do dinner with our closest friends and where we've celebrated some very special events (including Ashley's 30th birthday). It's got amazing Italian food, is reasonably priced and surprisingly large (yet romantic) given it location in the heart of Chelsea.

New York Restaurant: 5 Napkin Burger

One our standbys in Hell's Kitchen, 5 Napkin Burger came to our attention when our dear friend, Leah Landau, started bartending there. 5 Napkin Burger has a huge variety of burgers, an extensive beer list and a really energetic vibe at all hours of the day (we recommend 5 Napkin Burger for your post-Broadway-show meal or cocktail). Be sure to try the Original 5 Napkin Burger (ignore it's $15 price-tag).

Things to Do

Morristown National Historic Park

The Westin Governor Morris, site of Ashley and Joel's wedding reception, is right around the corner from Morristown National Historic Park, home to Washington's Headquarters. General Washington and the Continental Army encamped here from December 1779 to June 1780 and survived through what would be the coldest winter on record. The park features the Ford Mansion and Washington's Headquarters Museum, both with guided tours, as well as the expansive Jockey Hollow preserve, with its beautiful scenery and myriad hiking trails. Accordingly, whether you're looking to take in a bit of history or just get a bit of fresh air, the Morristown National Historic Park is definitely worth a trip.

Broadway Show: Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark

One of the most technically elaborate Broadway musicals of all time, Spider-Man brings the Manhattan skyline to life on stage and features incredible aerial stunts as Spider-Man flies over the audience to fight his foes. The musical features a rock score penned by famed U2 musicians Bono and the Edge. Perhaps more importantly, the show was choreographed by our dear friend and the founder of a dance company Ashley danced in - Mr. Chase Brock! We promise you you'll enjoy the the show and you'll see plenty of Ashley's friends performing in it!

Broadway Show: Matilda

Winner of a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards including Best Musical, Matilda is more than a show, it’s a phenomenon. Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda is the story of an extraordinary girl who dares to take a stand and change her destiny. Like Spider-Man: Turn Of f the Dark, we're proud to have a dear friend in the show - Mr. Phillip Spaeth. Check out Matilda and be amazed at Phillip's incredible dancing (and acting) abilities.

Broadway Show: Jersey Boys

You are coming to wedding in New Jersey. Why not see a show about some of New Jersey's favorite sons! Winner of the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical, Jersey Boys tells the story of how Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons went from being unknown New Jersey kids to international pop superstars. The show features over 30 beautifully sung tunes, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Though we don't know anyone in this product, we can assure you this one will be worth your time!
