What is the Sangeet?

The Sangeet is when the party begins! The word “Sangeet" means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding, it translates to Music Night or Musical party. This musical night is a way for the two families and friends to come together and celebrate before the big day.

The Baraat

The groom is accompanied by his family and friends to the wedding venue. Music and dancing sets the mood for the celebration of his arrival. He is then welcomed by the bride’s parents and her family to start the ceremony!

Welcoming of the Groom ( AKA Bor Boron) 4:15PM Baraat arrives to where Bride’s parents and family are waiting.

Bor Boron A Bengali Tradition ( Bor= Groom)

The mother of the bride welcomes the groom (Bor) with a Boron Dala (the welcoming tray) which is a decorative cane tray containing auspicious ingredients like rice, turmeric, betel nuts, paan leaves, a cluster of bananas and a lighted diya. She blesses the groom by touching the Boron dala to his forehead, shoulders, chest and knees, feeds him with a sweet. He is now ready to proceed to the mandap.

Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne remained largely undeveloped until 1947, when the Rickenbacker Causeway was built to connect the barrier island to Miami. Years later, the US's southernmost barrier island is easily accessible but remains quietly tranquil and secluded. Set amid this upscale enclave is The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami. The only luxury hotel on the bay, it sits just 20 minutes south of Miami Beach and near Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Jungle Island and other attractions.

The wedding ceremony will start immediately after the Baraat and the Bor Boron at 4:30 PM on the Grand Lawn.
