How I knew he was the one..

I was extremely stressed preparing for an exam in nursing school and was also working a night shift at a hospital. Amit happened to be doing a rotation at the same hospital and just finished a 12 hour shift. He could sense my anxiety and surprised me with food and forced me to take a break. During such a stressful time he brought a smile to my face. While sharing his dinner and despite having a long day, Amit offered to help me study. He drew diagrams of the pituitary gland (I still have it to this day) and made notes for me to study. He understood that my anxiety was at an all time high and did everything in his power to ease it. He not only listened to me and my concerns but also motivated me and pushed me to be better. That's when I knew how selfless, patient, kind, and compassionate Amit is. Amit made me feel that my success was his success, and my happiness was his happiness. What else could I ask for in the man of my dreams?

How I knew she was the one..

It was a really simple and relaxing evening. Life of Pi is probably my favorite movie and I wanted her to watch it and see what she thought of it. Well, not only did she pick up on all of the hidden meaning... she discovered things I hadn't even noticed! She was as in to the movie as I was and while I looked into her beautiful eyes, I felt her warmth, innocence, intelligence, and sense of discovery. I can't fully explain what I felt in that moment as I looked at her- all I knew was she was everything I wanted.

The Proposal by Amit

The hottest day in Greece is the day I proposed to my beautiful fiancé. So hot that while getting ready, the electricity went out on the entire island while I was halfway through ironing my shirt. Thankfully, I was at least able to google which knee to bend down on (yes, I did that).

Thankfully, Shameem had no idea why I was so worried about my shirt. I had planned to propose in Santorini because of a piece of art she owned as a child. An artist was asked to paint a picture of the most beautiful place on earth. And that picture was hung in her family's apartment in India. Nobody knew where this place was with these beautiful white buildings and brown domed church overlooking the water. But her late father always promised she would get to go there one day. I wanted to honor this and complete this promise to her. Little did she know that she would be standing in a picture she would often stare at so many years ago.
