GURVEER & AMAR

Welcome

×

We request the pleasure of your company in joining us for the biggest event of our lives, our WEDDING. A fun filled week full of laughter and joy, uniting our two families.

OUR STORY:

How we met…well, that is a long story. Where shall we begin… In a galaxy far far away, two strangers met online. Amar messaged a friendly “Hi!” just as Gurveer was losing all hope of meeting her knight in shining armor. The first day they spoke (a productive 10 hours), they could sense that there was some sort of connection. Amar knew right away that it was good, Gurveer was never sure until he popped the question. With Amar living in Scotland and Gurveer in London, the distance between them made it a bit of a roller coaster. However, this all changed when Amar took a leap and moved across the border. It is two years later and now a new chapter begins....

Getting to Kenya
Most international flights will arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi. The other international airport is Moi International Airport in Mombasa on the Kenyan coast. It is primarily used for domestic flights, but international routes do arrive here for travelers going to Mombasa. If travelling from Nairobi, you would need to take a domestic flight into Mombasa. This is an approximately 50minute flight.

Ethiopian Airlines has flights that land at Moi International Airport Mombasa

Vaccinations and Health

The following is given with a big disclaimer and are only suggestions. Please read the NHS fit for travel link and make your own decisions with the help from the GP / Boots Travel Clinic.

The only vaccinations required are full covid vaccination (not boosters, mainly the first 2 jabs)
For guests from India, Yellow fever and Polio will be a requirement to travel as it is for us so they will have those
For UK and Dubai- no need for any other vaccinations
Cholera, Malaria are recommended vaccination/ medication- is not a requirement
Please be up to date as well on normal vaccinations [polio, Tetenus, MMR, etc.] and it is recommended to have: Hep A+B, Typhoid and potentially Meningitis
Please do bring malaria prophylaxis and some good mosquito to save you the time going shopping for it here. In Mombasa, we generally don't take malarials, but that is as we are here semi-permanently. We do take measures not to get bitten.
Enclosed is a fit to travel list and realistically you will most likely not need rabies unless you want to go off the beaten track, same with Cholera. Yellow Fever is recommended for those going on Safari, and if you have been to a country with Yellow Fever you will need the yellow certificate to enter the country.

frequently asked questions
frequently asked questions

We are sure you will all have lots of questions between now and the wedding dates.
Please check out our Q & A first and if not covered then drop either of us, or our wedding planners Sapna & Shitul, a line (sachanias@outlook.com)
Q.When is the RSVP deadline?
Please RSVP by  so that we can get an accurate headcount of definite yes's, definite no’s which will help us plan.
Q. Can we book different accommodation?
Of course, your attendance at the functions is what matters to us most! Please let us know in your RSVP if you will be booking alternative accommodation.

Q. I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?
If you are coming from out of town and need a hotel, we have 2 options for you
1) Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort and Spa which is where the wedding events will be taking place so would be very convenient
Please click on the link provided which will take you to the room options at the hotel and from where you can book your room

Q. If Required, how can I organise a PCR Covid Test prior to travelling out of the country?
Though this is not needed for most travel now, if required for your flight back home, there are several centers / hospitals that can do an internationally acceptable Covid PCR test for travel and who also upload them onto the Airline systems for you.
Premier Hospital, Mombasa Hospital, Lancet and Pathcare are a few of them, all within a 15–30-minute drive from the hotel. The test costs approx. 7,500 KSH per person (approx. £50). It may also be possible to have someone come to the hotel if there is a big enough group needing testing. It is possible for 24-hour results but it's better to give a day’s leeway.
Again, our wedding planners will be able to assist in booking your tests so you can also get in touch with them.
Q. What will the weather be like?
In July, you can expect an average of 28°C during the day falling to around 20°C in the evenings. It may get windy near the beach side in the evenings so you can carry a light shawl or jacket. There is a small chance of a warm rain shower in this season but we hope to have plenty of sun too so get ready with your sun block lotions for some fun in the pool, sea and on the beautiful white beaches.
Q. Are kids welcome?
We want to share our day with you all, the whole family. That means the little, and not so little people, are all welcome. We recognie that some of you will want to lose them from time to time to relax and for that reason, we have chosen a hotel that is able to help has a supervised children's activity center where they can be left to enjoy themselves. Please reach out if you have questions!
Q. Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?
Yes
Q. What should I wear?
Please see our schedule for the dress-code.
Q. What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?
Be as comfortable as you can as we want to party long and hard. But a tip for the ladies: If you do like your heels, try not to wear stiletto heels at the welcome dinner and beach cocktail because the sand and grass will be problematic. Wedges or block heels should be ok but we wouldn't want any of you breaking any ankles.
For the Sangeet/ Mehndi and the Reception, as these will be indoors, stiletto's and heels are totally ok but your feet may complain after a few dances!
Q. Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?
Yes! We would love for you to take photos and share them using our hashtag except the Wedding Ceremony where we would ask it is left to the professional team on-site and we will ensure they are all shared for you to have copies of / to download after the event.
Q. Will I be able to get my hair and makeup done?
There is no salon at the hotel. We will organise hairdressers and makeup artists for guests if there are enough ladies who would like to use this service. It will cost KSh 2000- 2,500 per person for hair (depending on what you want to get done) and KSh. 2,500 per person for make-up (approx. £15 per person for hair or make-up). If you would like to wear a saree or need help draping a chunni, the ladies can help too (rates: Saree draping: 700/- and Chunni draping: 350/-)

Please let us know in advance what you would require so that we can organise these services.
Q. Whom should I call with questions or assistance?
Please contact our wedding planners Sapna  +254 733 755563  or Shitul +254 733 729375 (both also on WhatsApp) or email sachanias@outlook.com
They will both also be at the hotel throughout the wedding events and will be happy to help with any assistance required.
