Traditionally, this ritual is the start of the wedding festivities where the bride (and groom) get ready to look their best on their wedding day. The meaning of “maiyan” is to cleanse the skin and create a glow!
Please meet promptly in the Elevation Room on 30th floor at 10AM to start this ceremony
The evening will consist of various engagement related ceremonies. There will be a kardmai and chuni ceremony and a ring exchange. This will be followed by the Jago. Dinner will be served and the dancing and party will continue on!
The Jago (literal meaning: “staying awake”) involves relatives of the bride and groom to stay up all night! The idea is to celebrate the wedding by dancing and partying. The aunt of the bride and groom takes an earthen pot (jago) and fills it with candles, places it on her head and dances. The pot is then passed onto other family members and friends as well.
