Airport

The closest airport is Aeroporto Humberto Delgado (LIS). The airport is located 30km/18mi away from Sintra. Flying directly into Lisbon will be the easiest way in!

- Starting in 2025, Visas are req’d for US travelers (only $8, required in advance) click below for link to register: www.etiaseu.com/application

-Thursday 6/19/25 is Juneteenth, a holiday people can use for their extended travels

- Make sure your passport is up to date and does not expire within 6 months POST wedding

Getting Around

RENTAL CAR OR UBER?

Both Lisbon and Estoril are very Uber friendly.

Rent a Car

If you do rent a car, we highly recommend not driving the day of the wedding.

The best place to rent a car in Lisbon is at the airport (terminal 1).
Make sure to confirm you rent an automatic car if you can't drive manual.
We highly suggest you confirm to book a hybrid or fully gas car. Electric cars are becoming the standard/cheapest options but it is VERY complicated to find charging stations that are convenient.

Our venue is located approximately 25 min drive from the airport which includes highway driving with tolls. The best option is to get the optional transponder from the car rental company. If not, make sure you have some coins handy to pay at the toll!

Heres a list of all the car rental companies available:

Transfer company

You can also consider a transfer from the airport to your Hotel. we highly recommend the company Convey, if you contact them add the promo code PWPAS and the company is ready to organize a special price for you. They can also be used to transport you to Porto on the other side of Portugal.

Thinking about Uber?

Uber is super easy and affordable in Lisbon. If you're not up for driving a car, just make sure you have data roaming to able to catch an Uber around the city.

One thing to note: The estimated trip cost to Sintra (where the venue is located) from Lisbon is €25 each way.

Group Transportation

We are looking into group travel options to and from the venue. More to follow on this.

What to do in Lisbon

Lisbon

Visit

JERÓNIMOS MONASTERY
Built in 1502, it is now classified as a World Heritage Site, and is where you will find the tomb of Vasco da Gama. Beautiful and quick museum! Make sure to walk around the streets for cute little shops as well.

BELÉM TOWER
Also a World Heritage monument, the Belém Tower was built in 1515 to protect the harbour.

MAAT
One of Lisbon's most iconic buildings is an exceptional example of contemporary architecture. Visitors are allowed to walk over it, to admire a view of the river and the 25 de Abril Bridge.

FRONTEIRA PALACE
Most of this palace's outstanding tile collection dates from between 1660 and 1670, covering much of the interior and the impressive garden outside. It's one of the most extraordinary tiled works of art in the world, mixing Portuguese and Dutch examples next to various decorative sculptures.

ALFAMA AND GRAÇA
This is Lisbon's oldest neighborhood, found around the castle (Graça) and down the hill towards the river (Alfama).

CHIADO
Lisbon's most sophisticated neighborhood, known for shopping (now mostly international chains), cafés and theatres.

BOTANICAL GARDEN
The entrance to this garden is through a lane of palm trees that eventually leads to an enchanted “forest” of plants brought from expeditions to Africa, Brazil and Asia in the 18th century. An attraction not to miss is the butterfly greenhouse, which is the only one in Europe that’s open to the public.

What to do in Cascais/Estoril

Cascais & Estoril

What to visit?
The coastline extending to the west of Lisbon leads to Cascais, an affluent seaside suburb. It is known for its sandy beaches and calm sea, although there are also waves for surfers. It’s the coastline chosen by most tourists for a day at the beach, as it has a regular train service linking it to central Lisbon.

Discover the Old Town
What was once a sleepy fishing village along the Portuguese coast, quickly grew out to be a high-end destination along the Portuguese Riviera.

Cascais Art & Museum district
Within the walls of the Citadel of Cascais, the prolongation of the Nossa Senhora da Luz Fort fortification that used to defend the town from foreign invasions, you’ll find the elegant Cidadela Art District.

Boca do Inferno
Also called Hell’s Mouth. It’s a rock formation that was heavily eroded and where the waves come crashing in.

Group Travel Info

Day of the Wedding!

There will be some coordinated group travel.

The details and schedule are still being worked out, so make sure to check back as the big day approaches for more logistics information to be provided.

We will likely have a shuttle or bus from a central location in Lisbon to and from the venue running on a schedule before and after the wedding.
