Alyssa & Derek
February 1, 2024
Welcome
Alyssa met Derek her first winter in Kitimat, after attending a Kitimat Ice Demons hockey game in January 2017. They would also bump into each other in the office until Derek called Alyssa one Friday afternoon to ask her out.
In typical Kitimat fashion, their first dates were hikes and drifting the river to fish for salmon on late summer evenings. Derek has shown Alyssa all his favourite fishing holes and she is now his First Mate on all their trips down the Douglas Channel.
Alyssa & Derek have been lucky to have had adventures around the world together: Nicaragua, Israel, Jordan, Greece, Hawaii, and most recently Belize, where Derek proposed in April 2023.
Whether SCUBA diving, mushroom picking, or cross-country skiing, these two are up for an outdoor adventure anywhere and anytime. They are excited to share their love of discovering new places with all of their guests who will join them for their special day in Costa Rica.

Departing at 10:00am you will enjoy a full day sail along Costa Rica's spectacular coastline in one of the purpose built catamarans found within the Marlin del Rey Sailing Tours fleet - All are open and spacious which allows our passengers to comfortably enjoy the blue water views of the glorious Costa Rican coastline with its pristine beaches and verdant jungles from the bow trampolines, lounge on the roof deck, man the wheel with the captain or relax, one of the oversized tables found in the shaded area of the main salon and ultimately experience one of the brilliant Costa Rican sunsets.
Upon departing Tamarindo we will leisurely sail along the Gold Coast will searching for and hopefully observing some of the vast, abundant and varied sea life found along our shores. Some of the sea life we hope to encounter includes whales, dolphins, turtles, flying fish, rays and a wide variety of sea birds. If conditions permit we will also throw a few fishing lines off the back in the hopes of hooking into one of the many game fish that ply our waters.
Eventually we pull into one of the many secluded bays in the area, throw anchor and allow our passengers the opportunity to swim in the warm Costa Rican waters. Life vests, pool noodles and snorkel equipment are available should weather conditions permit. For those passengers not wanting to get wet the catamaran is a great place to relax in the shade of the huge main salon or lounge in the sun on one of the many open deck areas.
Following our time playing in the water, a light lunch is served. Lunch is served at approximately 4:00 pm and includes the following:
BBQ Chicken, yellow rice, fresh fruit plates, chips (Doritos, Cheetos, Tostitos and Ruffles), dips (fresh homemade beans and pico de gallo) and fresh baked cookies
An open bar is offered during the duration of the tour. Refreshments include:
Soda – Pepsi, Pepsi Light, 7-Up, Ginger Ale, Fresca, soda and bottled water.
Juices – Orange, mixed, apple, cranberry and tomato juice
Beer – Imperial, Imperial light & Pilsen
Liquor – Centenario Rum, Absolute Vodka, Jack Daniels, Tanqueray Gin,
Jose Cuervo Tequilla and Cacique Guaro
Wine – Casillero del Diablo Wine red and White
Following lunch we pull anchor, raise the sails and casually motor sail across the bay. We arrive at our final anchor location as the sun nears the horizon and the sky explodes into a multitude of colors. Our guests disembark the Marlin Del Rey as the sun sinks below the horizon.
A few helpful hints about the tour:
• We do not provide beach towels so it is recommended that you bring your own
• Lunch is served at approximately 3:30 pm so it is best if you eat something prior to the tours departure.
• Everything is included in the tour so cash is not needed unless you wish to tip the crew or purchase a souvenir t-shirt
• Smoking is prohibited
• We don’t board any passenger under the influence of alcohol
• All passengers must be barefoot on board, there’s a selected area to leave the sandals
• All passenger must use Lifeguard jackets and flotation device or "noodle" while snorkeling
• Do not jump into the water while the boat is in motion or while the engines are turned on.
• To access the boat's bathrooms u must go down three steps, this could be very hard for people with mobility impairments
• Snorkeling spots are part of a wild environment. Conditions are significantly altered by weather, seasons, sea conditions, human impact and climate events. These conditions change day to day and hour to hour. The crew does its best to find the best snorkeling spot for the day of the tour. Unfortunately there are times the spot chosen is less than optimal.
We can board the part of the group staying at Playa del coco in front of the volleyball courts by the big tree on the board walk in Playas del Coco. This is located 10 meters north of where the road through Coco dead ends into the beach. I have attached map to assist you in locating this location. Due the the pick up time requested at Planet Hollywood is a at 10:00a.m we ask that you arrive here at 9:20a.m the day of the tour
