The Beginning
We’re millennials so we met the same way we do everything else…online! LOL Unfortunately, we don't have those initial messages from 2017 but we think it would be hilarious to look back. Like most dating app connections, after exchanging numbers our conversation quickly fizzled out and came to an end. Little did we know though, it was actually the beginning of forever.
The Reconnection
I randomly received a Marco Polo video text (another app... this is definitely a 21st century love story) from Tony a year later. We started randomly sending messages back and forth every few months, just random and casual hellos. We eventually planned to meet up, but every time something would come up and we'd have to reschedule. Finally, the stars aligned about 7 months later and we finally met in person for our first date!
The First Date
January 26, 2019 was the day that I met my now fiancée, Allison Wimbush.  We met at Marlow's Tavern, a restaurant located in Tucker, GA.  It was the first time eating there for both of us.  She called me as she was pulling in because parking was limited.  I jumped in her car to help her find a parking spot, and I could tell she was hesitant to let me in because it was a little junky LOL. After finding a spot, we walked in together and sat down.  We talked and laughed, it was a really good date.  At the end of the date, I walked her to her car, got a hug, and stole a kiss on the cheek.  She was surprised, but I think she liked it.
I Said Yes!
HER VERSION

January 2, 2021. I had a looong day at work, we were so busy, and I was so tired. After work, I stopped by Publix to get something for dinner. Tony had been under the weather for a few days so he wanted something that would hopefully stay down, like macaroni and cheese.  I wanted to grab something quick for myself because I was hungry and exhausted. I picked up both meals and headed home. Tony was still not feeling too great, so I tended to him and prepared our plates. As we got ready to bow our heads and bless the food, he says, “Wait…I need to say something!” I was thinking, “What is it, man? I’m hungry!” LOL He then proceeded to get down on one knee and ask me to marry him. I was so shocked, I couldn’t answer him! Once I snapped out of it, of course I said, “YES!” I then immediately pulled out the phone to snap a pic (because this ring is gorgeous!) and sent it to my nearest and dearest. My nails weren’t done, so the “BIG REVEAL” was done socially on my birthday 9 days later. It was so unexpected but it was the perfect proposal, intimate and private like I had always dreamed of.

HIS VERSION

I remember going back and forth in my mind about whether or not to propose on this day or wait until her birthday, which is January 11th.  I was also deciding whether or not to do it privately or in front of her closest friends.  I hadn't been feeling well for a few days leading up to the proposal, and I had been holding on to the ring for 5 days after having it resized.  I couldn't wait a moment longer, so I got on one knee right before saying grace at dinner.  She was standing up when I got down on one knee.  She made me wait until after she sat down but she said, "Yes!"
