It all started back in 2014 in the middle of a snow storm when Praveen went to the wrong Starbucks to meet Alekya for the first time. When he finally made it to the right one they hit it off instantly! After a few hours, Alekya realized Praveen wasn’t a weirdo so they ditched their night classes to spend more time together and this marked the beginning of their story.
There were many adventures along the way from being a couple of college kids to pretending like adults (sometimes...) Weekends full of sunshine on the beach, spontaneous day trips - sometimes just to eat pizza in New York -, learning to ski, chasing Praveen's love of cars around Germany, and making sure Alekya gets the perfect pictures are just a few of the many memories we made over the past six years. We continue to explore all kinds of new food and experiences, but somehow nothing can beat hanging out together eating pizza and watching football on a Sunday afternoon.
Praveen kept the proposal simple yet very special. Though, it seemed like any other Sunday afternoon during the spring in Chicago, it was actually Cinco de Mayo and the day before their five year anniversary. What seemed like a normal walk down by the river to get some margaritas turned into a complete surprise for Alekya: a picture perfect proposal on the Riverwalk followed by an afternoon of celebration with friends!
We are overwhelmed with all the love and excitement everyone has shown since the engagement.
