When Zach and Miarra tell people the story of how they met, they often hear the words “Fate,” “Meant to be” or “Fairy-tale.” Mushy? Yes. But honestly for them, it really was. They met on a whim in NYC on NYE through a mutual friend and now Bridesmaid, Katja Jacobs.
Let’s paint the picture:
December 31, 2012. Zach and Miarra both decide to travel to NYC for the occasion, Zach with his best friend and now Best Man, Bryan Gomez, and Miarra with a college friend. Now anyone who has experienced NYE in NYC probably knows that NO MATTER WHAT, attendees are expected to stand in a minimum five block line at Madison Square Garden to wait for tickets. Luckily for them, Zach had already been holding a place in line for Katja and her friends for two hours! Walking up to the ticket line, Miarra recalls the “butterflies” she felt when she saw Zach, overwhelmed by his boyish good looks or the two margaritas she had prior to their introduction. The two hit it off awkwardly, with Zach stumbling to make conversation as he opened the door to the ticket counter and Miarra making fun of him (much like a little girl with a playground crush) for his rebellious decision to not wear a coat in 20 degree weather. But her feelings went further than just appreciation for his chivalrous manners and warm smile…and little did she know, his feelings did too! Miarra and Zach spent the rest of the evening boasting to their friends about how cute the other was and anticipating their next meeting later that night. When they arrived at the NYE party, Zach met Miarra with a drink in one hand and took hers in the other. They spent the night dancing away under the strobe light and getting to know one another. As the clock struck midnight, their eyes met and Zach asked Miarra to be his NYE kiss. That was all it took; one kiss and she was smitten. Six months later, after numerous trips between Colorado and Virginia, and countless late night Skypes, Miarra moved to Colorado. Fast forward six years and six NYE kisses later…Zach still doesn’t wear a coat in winter, Miarra still gets butterflies when she sees him, they are the proud parents of three fur babies, Cinnamon, James and Callie (wedding roles TBD) and both are eager to celebrate their love in front of all their family and friends on February 22, 2020!
