Kristy is the older sister and only sibling of Kayla. These two grew up tight, with no shortage of stories sure to be revealed in the roasting of the Bride speech. Don’t forget to lookout for Kristy warming up on the sidelines of the dance floor, readying herself for her customary break-dance routine. Kayla has always admired Kristy for the amazing sister, Mother and friend she is.
Sara and Kayla took a chance on one another when they decided to move in together not long after meeting. This proved to be one of the best things to happen to Kayla because wowie can Sara cook. Stories of Sara and Kayla include Yacht Week in Greece, apartment raves and most importantly food and wine. Chris pulled double duty, working to win Sara over while dating Kayla... I got you boo boo.
Don’t be surprised if you find yourself saddled up next to Haley at the bar telling her your life story (it’s what she does). Haley became one of Kayla’s closest confidants when they began working together a few years ago. Tragically this came to an end when Haley uprooted her life (and Kayla’s heart) back to her hometown in the Okanagan. Every possible form of communication on the daily keeps this friendship going strong.
Keatin and Kayla didn’t care much for one another when they first met in Junior High. Fast forward to University when they both ended up in Kelowna and started to think "maybe she isn't so bad after all". This change of heart quickly evolved into lifelong friendship. If your looking for brutal honesty, go no further then a quick conversation with Keatin. She is also the most kind, generous human and has never met a snack she didn’t like.
Whitney and Kayla have basically known each other their entire existence. They grew up just down the street from one another in Okotoks and spent just as many nights sleeping on a trampoline as they did in their beds. From ballet recitals to stealing booze from their parents, these two have been through A LOT together (but seriously we should write that book) and who would have guessed, they are both getting married this year!
Building booty’s together since 2013, Kelly and Kayla can be found squatting and lunging it out while warding off the other gym goers of Goodlife. They once lived in a 400 square foot, 1-bedroom apartment together and are still friends! Kelly, the songbird of our generation, is best known for her rendition of Kid Rock’s, “Only God Knows Why”. If this one gets a hold of a microphone at the reception, look out!
Michael is the older brother and only sibling of Chris. He has looked up to Chris since he was in grade 6 when Chris became the little bigger brother. Their shared passions include whiskey, sports and gambling. (A little degenerate don’t ya think?) Chris always finds himself going to Michael when he needs advice and feels blessed to work side-by-side with him every day.
By the amount of Jack Daniels this man consumes, you’d be surprised to learn Danny is a Doctor. A drink a day, keeps the Doctor away? Chris and Danny met at the Calgary Stampede and quickly connected over a Jack and Coke. Trips around the world have kept this bromance alive (sorry Kayla but you’ll have to share). If Danny asks for your napkin at the wedding… just go with it.
Matt (Clark) and Chris met in their first year of University playing football. Their primary means of communication are through quotes from The Simpsons and Vegas Vacation. Subscribe to Matt’s Golf Chronicles for tips and tricks from the self-proclaimed pro golfer. If you see a golf club in a tree, it’s likely his (anger issues?). Look for Matt leaving the party early, claiming nothing good happens after midnight.
Jon is single and ready to mingle and only 3 years away from collecting his pension. Jon and Chris played football together and became fast friends through their shared love of Jack Daniels and country music. Winning at a losing game, these two went 10 for 10, always challenging each other’s Stampede limits (until Kayla came around). Rumour has it Jon is the only man to have shot a hole in one, scoring a 0 (cheater).
Spencer and Chris met playing High School football, pumping iron and chasing chickens. When these two weren’t in the gym getting jacked, they were talking trucks and playing chel' in the basement. Even when Spencer moved out East to bring justice to the people, their friendship never faltered. When you see him at the wedding be sure to request a "hollow man". Note: Spencer you require photo ID to enter the USA, don’t forget!
If you’re looking for the tightest pants at the wedding, look no further! Kit is by far Chris’ most stylish friend with the deepest V’s. These two got their start in High School when Chris’ obnoxious attitude in homeroom rubbed Kit the wrong way. However, they soon realized they made better friends than enemies and joined forces to parking lot pimp on weekends. #wreckedandsmashed
The Boss of the Vail family and truly one of a kind, although small in stature, Sue has the biggest heart. The Vail men always fall in line when she is around. When asked why the Vail’s didn’t have a dog growing up, she would reply: “I already have 3 dogs to look after”. Sue is a generous person, giving from the heart and is willing to go the extra mile for anyone. Creator of the “Sue special” cocktail, be sure to enjoy one with her at the wedding.
Mike, “Senior”, is the biggest inspiration in Chris’ life. Mike has always put others before himself and strives to instill his values in his sons. Strong work ethic, the importance of family and generosity are just a few to name. Mike built a successful business which allows his family to work together each day. He may come across quiet but join Senior for a Grey Goose Caesar and he will always have a story to tell you.
Matriarch of the Staples family and planner extraordinaire, this woman has the ability to find a drink anywhere she goes. Val loves being asked if she is Kayla’s sister. 60 going on 30, Val’s spirit lives up to that of her favorite animal, the (night) owl. Kayla has always admired her Mother for putting her family first, living her life to the fullest and thriving in a male dominated career. In true Staples fashion, Val is ultra-competitive, a trait inherent in Kayla… dance off?
Bill, Kayla’s Father, will be with us in spirit on Kayla and Chris’ wedding day. For those who knew him well, you will hear his laughter and see his happy tears. We will all feel his love while we think of him on this day. A day he would have been so proud to be a part of, walking his baby girl down the aisle. He will want us to celebrate to the fullest, the new family we have gained and all the love and support for this marriage. Cheers Dad to “the best” wedding ever!
Lachlan is Kayla and Chris' oldest Nephew. He is one super kind, loving soul with a passion for his family and friends. You can find him going top shelf against the other Timbits, or skating laps around his Auntie. When asked what part of the wedding he is most excited for, he answered "waterslides".
Willy is Kayla and Chris' youngest Nephew. He is one clever rambunctious little guy who is sure to entertain you all weekend long. Watch out for his alter ego, Jack-Jack, who is sure to make a guest appearance. When asked what part of the wedding he is most excited about, he answered "Chris".
