2011

Although we were both born raised in South Florida, we didn’t meet until our freshman year of college at the University of Florida; Peter was still attending the University of Central Florida at the time. As youth would have it, naturally, our first date was a night out dancing the evening away with friends. The first few months of our relationship featured lots of Skype & Ooovoo (ha, remember those?!) calls and let’s just say “distance made the heart grow fonder”.

Growing Up Together

Over the next five years, we both graduated from the University of Florida, got our two dogs, Coco & Kaia, and visited multiple cities & countries—Toronto being one of them.

Moving on up, eh?

During our visit to Toronto, we were your typical tourists exploring, learning about the city, and enjoying every moment. So much so, that on our last day we entertained the idea of moving to Toronto. A second trip in the dead of winter and lots of boba later, we were sold on moving to Canada. In 2018, we loaded up our dogs and all of our things in a UHaul and drove for three days from Florida to Toronto, our cherished home still today.

'Cause this love is a sure thing

In August of 2021, we took a trip to Vancouver to celebrate our 10-year anniversary and 2 days before we left we were sitting on a bench at Granville & West Georgia St where we started reflecting on our trip and relationship. At that moment, things felt right and we decided to get married. But unlike any sane couple, we decided to do it ASAP. Within 30mins of that conversation, we had a marriage license… within 2 hours, we booked an elopement company to officiate…and within 24 hours we were married in the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Gardens park. And we wouldn't change a thing about it.

This Is Us

Together, we enjoy boxing, traveling, hiking, taking our dogs to the park, trying new restaurants, and exploring our city as if we we're still tourists. On a typical weeknight, you’ll find us winding down the evening making dinner together singing a song that may or may not be real, taking a long walk around our neighborhood with our dogs, then finishing the night off with a movie that we barely stay awake to finish. Our favorite dates usually involve something salty, something sweet, a little bubbly, and we're never opposed to a homemade, curated charcuterie board.

A Note of Love For You

With 12 years together and 2 of them married, we are filled with gratitude for the love and support we have received from our families and friends. Your presence and well wishes mean the world to us, and we are thrilled to celebrate our love surrounded by the people who have witnessed us & our relationship flourish.

Our wedding day is not only about us but about the love and connections we have nurtured along the way. Thank you for being a part of our story, and we look forward to creating memories together that will be etched in our hearts forever.

With love and excitement,
Yourisha & Peter
