How did you meet?

How did you meet?

Ruben and I met in the least likely of places (at least for us). We first met when running into mutual friends as we were both leaving McDitton’s in SoHo. One of the groups was headed to iHop so everyone decided to meet there. Ruben sat across from me at breakfast and it was then that we first met and got to know each other a bit.

We exchanged numbers, but it wasn’t until nearly a year later that we would hang out again and begin to date!

Who made the first move? How?

Who made the first move? How?

Ruben. Randomly, almost a year after we met, Ruben came with a mutual friend to a game night at my house. Based on my terrible advice, he ended up getting a parking ticket outside the house.

I felt so terrible I tried to cash app him, which he would not accept. Instead, he suggested I make it up to him by allowing him to take me out to dinner - Okkuuurrrr! A few days later we would meet for a 2 1/2 hour sushi date and the rest is history!

What' your most memorable date?

What was your most memorable date?

On our second date, we went to a country concert. If you know Ruben then you know he was definitely into me to agree to this Lol. After the concert we had sushi (yeah we love sushi!) and then went back to my place and just talked and hung out all night.

We danced bachata and merengue, shared our favorite songs with one another, learned about one another, and watched Sanky Panky on YouTube. LOL. At around 7am Ruben took a nap on the couch (like a gentleman ;)). We later went out to breakfast and when he left we shared our first kiss.

What's your most memorable trip?

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Oh this is a tough one because we have been on so many wonderful trips together (Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, across the US, and even Europe). However our most recent trip - the one that is leading us to our next big adventure where we will walk down the isle an say "I Do" - that has to be by far the most memorable!

We got engaged while on a family holiday vacation in the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. About an hour before Ruben intended to propose, it began to snow! The proposal was nothing short of magical. The next day we shared a white Christmas with our son and family. We played in the snow, watched movies with family, and got some much needed R&R. A low key vacation, with many of our loved ones, great traditions, and a little magic sprinkled through out.. doesn't get much better than that!

How did he propose?

Ruben proposed on Christmas Eve in Tennessee. After the first snowfall began the family decided to take a walk to enjoy the snow. As we were walking we came across a bridge covered in photos of us. As soon as I noticed the photos one of my favorite songs, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, was playing. We crossed the bridge and followed a path with photos of us over the years hung up on the trees all along it. At the end of the path we came another bridge with rose petals on the floor and a “Kiss me under the mistletoe” sign. Ruben told me to take a look at our son. Underneath his coat he was wearing a shirt that said “Mommy will you marry my daddy?”. When I turned around Ruben was on one knee and popped the question! ❄️
