Saddlerock Ranch
31727 Mulholland Hwy
Malibu, CA 90265

Event Theme

80s-90s Bollywood

The Sangeet is a unique Hindu pre-wedding ceremony to celebrate the union of two families. It is an event that promises to kick-off the festivities with some fun, laughter, and tingling taste buds. Traditionally, the Sangeet is a time for music and dance and an opportunity for all of the guests to familiarize themselves with each other prior to the wedding.

Time travel back to our favorite musical era! For this event, we will plan to honor tradition but with a contemporary twist. We officially welcome you to Yash and Chandni’s Sangeet Night: ‘A Trip Down Bollywood Lane.’

This event will mark the official start of wedding festivities! There will be plenty of food, drinks, and mendhi (henna) for those interested.

Transportation

The best way to access the hotels from the airport is to rent a car.

There will be complimentary valet parking available at each of the event sites. We strongly recommend the use of a rental car or Uber/Lyft.

A small number of shuttles will be provided for those unable to secure a ride. This option is reserved primarily for our international guests.

Directions

There are two entrances with two different gates to Saddlerock Ranch. Please enter through the gate that has "Middle Gate" written on it.

The Middle Gate is located about 0.7 miles from Kanan Road on the right side. Do NOT go into the first gate which is 0.5 miles from Kanan Road. Drive through the entrance (do not veer right) and stay on the paved road. Pull up on the circular driveway and a valet attendant will park your car.

Our Wedding Day

The Hindu wedding involves a traditional ceremony that solidifies the sacred union of wife and husband as per Vedic ritual. Over the years, many interpretations of the Hindu marriage have been adopted. The important elements of our wedding that we would like to espouse include the reciprocal promises to care for, love, and support each other forever. This ceremony again will be a fusion between traditional and more modern rituals.

The wedding ceremony will begin with a Baarat (all are invited, from both Chandni and Yash's sides) followed by the wedding ceremony. A lively dinner will end the night.

Dress Code

Indian or western semi-formal.

This venue will also have some grassy areas, so please feel free to wear low heels or flats.

Honoring Juneteenth

Along with the union of Chandni and Yash, June 19th or Juneteenth is celebrated for humanity's perseverance and resolve to collectively overcome prejudices and inequalities that have been inflicted on marginalized people, especially in the last millennium. Let's at once pay homage to all the generations that have come before us who secured a more just and equal world for all of us and also commit to making it even more so for everyone across the far reaches of the globe. Frederick Douglass once said, "I prayed for freedom for twenty years, but received no answer until I prayed with my legs." Let's heed this to guide our actions beyond mere words to do our part to advance equality and justice for all.

Maia Kinnebrew
Maia Kinnebrew
Bridesmaid
I met Maia during graduate school interview week and since then I've looked up to her as an incredibly intelligent, hard-working scientist who also likes to have all types of fun. I see Maia as an older sister I never had, and I've experienced some of the best moments of my adult life with her. Find Maia if you want to talk about her awesome research, pets, and love for fishing!
Jenn Kong
Jenn Kong
Bridesmaid
Jenn is someone I have seen more than anyone else in my 20s. She is my "bay-mate," and for everyone outside of wet-lab science, this means that Jenn and I have basically spent the last five years (literally) next to each other for more than 60 hours a week. She is another strong female role model in my life who has played a significant role in my scientific and personal development. I love Jenn for her magnetic personality - her laugh itself is enough to make me feel warm and fuzzy inside!
Jenai Machhi
Jenai Machhi
Bridesmaid
Jenai and I became friends the very first day of undergrad at UCSD. We share so many interests and instantly bonded over our similar tastes in music, humor, and TV. Every night freshman year, we would cuddle in my very small twin bed in Marshall College and watch shows after school work. Like Jenn, Jenai also has the most boisterous personality and her laugh can light up a room (she finds a lot of what I say funny which I love). Talk to Jenai about the awesome time she's having in NYC!
Katie Messing
Katie Messing
Bridesmaid

Katie is another life-long friend I made the first day of undergrad. Katie, Jenai, and I lived together for two years and did everything together - study, eat, go to the beach, and visit our favorite friends in a neighboring suite. After college, Katie moved to Santa Clara, and I got to do it all over again! Some of my favorite memories with her include being her +1 at Google holiday parties and crashing her weekend night dinner dates with her partner Joe (one of our "favorite friends" from the neighboring suite). Katie is easily one of the friendliest people I've ever met, so talk to her about her recent move to NYC or her bunny named Bunny.

Nandini Mohta
Nandini Mohta
Bridesmaid

Nandini and I are both not sure when and why we first became friends but we say it had a lot to do with our "awkward" personalities. This doesn't make much sense to me now because Nandini is one of the most approachable, social people I've ever met. She makes plenty of time for her many friends and family but at the same time is also very ambitious and career driven (I think she's going to be a tech exec one day). Talk to Nandini (and Priyasha) about her efforts to recycle and reuse South Asian clothes through her business Shop Sakhya!

Priyasha Shah
Priyasha Shah
Bridesmaid
Priyasha has been a constant in my life since our time at UCSD, and I have so many fond memories of our time together as roommates and also as long-distance (except for a couple of years that she spent living in San Francisco) friends figuring out life together. I admire Priyasha for her fierce loyalty to her friends, creativity, and commitment to sustainability. She's also a fabulous dancer - catch her grooving on the dance floor! Talk to Priyasha (and Nandini) about her efforts to recycle and reuse South Asian clothes through her business Shop Sakhya.
Groomsmen
James Feng
James Feng

James has been a close friend of Yash's since they were both in Middle School. He and Yash first were golfing buddies and then later became teammates on Harker's golf team. They both share interests in basketball, golf and football. Though their friendship runs deeper than sports; Yash enjoys learning about finance and laughing at his jokes. James is one of Yash's closest friends and confidants to this day. James lives in New York with his fiancé Doris and is a Principal at Blackstone.
Stefan Eckhardt
Stefan Eckhardt
Groomsman
Stefan and Yash have been close friends since early in High School when they played basketball and football together during lunch breaks. Stefan makes up another member of Yash's core high school friends, and they always make time every year to go on a golf trip or skiing or both! Yash enjoys deriving motivation from Stefan's infinite talents (such as skiing, golfing, negotiating, and physics). Stefan currently lives in Boston where he completed an MBA at Harvard Business School and now is a management consultant at Bain.
Arjun Mody
Arjun Mody
Groomsman
Arjun was one of Yash's first friends. Starting in elementary school, they used to play chess together and have frequent sleep overs. Arjun has remained very close and serves as a confidant and role model to Yash. To this day they still speak on the phone regularly, play golf, and enjoy wine nights. Arjun currently resides in Brooklyn where he is an attorney at a well-respected law firm. Yash strongly feels that Arjun will one day be a Supreme Court Justice.
Sanjeev Datta
Sanjeev Datta
Groomsman
Sanjeev and Yash have been close friends since the 4th grade. They used to trade basketball cards, compete in Math (Sanjeev would always win), and spend summers together. They stayed close during college when Sanjeev went to UCLA and spent weekends partying together in Santa Monica. Sanjeev remains one of Yash's most loyal friends. He and his Wife, Pratusha, are frequent double date partners when Yash and Chandni want to explore local Palo Alto cuisine or go on a spontaneous ski trip. Sanjeev is a software engineer at QuantumScape in the Bay Area.
Vishnu Manoranjan
Vishnu Manoranjan
Groomsman
Vishnu was Yash's first friend in med school. Both of them, with Vishnu's future fiancé Michelle, would do everything together from studying to tasting whiskey to going to Disneyland during rare free weekends. Yash often says that he would not have made it through medical school without Vishnu's support, humor, and infinite knowledge. Whenever Yash has any non-urology medical questions, Vishnu is the first person he calls. One day, Yash plans to start a medical practice with Vishnu and Michelle. Vishnu lives with Michelle and their dog, Dante, in Portland and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at OHSU.
Eric Feinstein
Eric Feinstein
Groomsman
Eric and Yash met during their sophomore year in college when they began living together at the Sixth College apartments at UCSD. Eric used to heckle Yash over his allegiance to the underachieving Lakers, a hobby Eric enjoys to this day. Yash was always impressed with Eric's affability and positive outlook on life. Eric continues to challenge Yash to be more adventurous and to visit more National Parks, a hobby which Eric is second to none at. Eric is now a History teacher at Mountain House High School.
Saurabh Rane
Saurabh Rane
Groomsman
Yash and Saurabh became friends after Saurabh reluctantly agreed to let Yash live with him and his roommates Sophomore year of college. They actually first met coincidentally the summer before college at a pick-up basketball game in Cupertino though at the time Yash thought Saurabh was too cool to be friends with him. Saurabh is one of the most down-to-earth people he has ever met and helped Yash adapt to life in college away from home. He quickly became one of his indispensable friends. They traveled to the South of France together in 2018 (with their mutual friend Sita who designed your invitations) and continue to meet up in the Bay Area and New York. Saurabh is a Data Science and Visualization stud at Slalom in NYC. You can find him on twitter @saurabhontap covering the NBA as a data wizard in his free time.
Sean Berquist
Sean Berquist
Groomsman
Sean is one of Yash's Urology co-residents at Stanford. He, Jessie, and Yash have become very close over the past four years bonding over General Surgery intern year, long nights in the hospital, inside jokes about other specialties, and bougie foods found at overpriced restaurants in the Bay Area. Sean actually went to medical school with Yash at UCSD though they were different years and didn't get a chance to know each other well until after they matched at Stanford. Yash loves that Sean is always smiling and has a joke ready despite how tired or stressed he might actually be.  Yash looks forward to spending time operating with and learning from Sean for many years to come. Sean and his partner reside in Palo Alto, CA with their three dogs and hamster.
Sachin Mitra
Sachin Mitra
Groomsman

Sachin is another close friend from Yash's childhood with the added benefit that they were also family friends. They grew up in Fremont together with frequent get togethers at each other's houses. Sachin and Yash bonded over family friend trips to Hawaii, Yosemite, and Cancun among many other spots. After high school, they both traveled to Europe (UK and Italy) together with a few other friends-- a trip that produced memories to last a lifetime. Yash admires Sachin's investing acumen and enjoys frequent stock tips. Sachin is one of the most down to earth and affable people Yash has ever met. Sachin recently moved back to New York but frequently travels to Santa Barbara where his investment group is located.

The health of you and your loved ones are very important to us. Out of concern for the safety of our guests, we are requiring everyone in attendance to be fully vaccinated (including booster shots).

We request that everyone take a rapid-antigen or PCR test the week of the wedding to ensure a safe environment for everyone. If having tested positive in the past, we request you only attend wedding events 7 days or more after the initial positive test, per CDC guidelines.

As the event draws nearer, we will send out messaging in line with the local county guidelines for large events. We appreciate your understanding during this crazy time.

Gifts

Your presence is a present enough. No gift is expected! We do nonetheless realize that some of you may wish to give us a wedding gift to commemorate the occasion. We will provide a wishing well at our wedding ceremony though do request no boxed gifts due to the nature of the venues! Once again, we cannot emphasize enough that your love, laughter, and company are the greatest gifts of all and no other gift is needed!

+1s at our events

Unfortunately we are limited in the number of guests the venue can accommodate, so not everyone will receive a plus-one. If you are given a plus-one, you will see this information when you RSVP on our website. We wish we could accommodate everyone! Please reach out to us if you think we made any mistakes or you have any questions.

Hotel room blocks

There are several hotels within the Westlake Village area that we recommend staying at:
