A Cruise Down Aztec Canals

We have chosen to share with our guests one of our favorite experiences from our visit to CDMX – The Xochimilco (soh·chee·meel·koh) boat ride!

These canals in southern Mexico City were once used as farming land and a transportation hub for Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan. Now, these fun and colorful trajinera boats will guide us through these canals while we eat, drink, and soak up the sun!

This event is not required but is available to all who would like to join. If you decide to join us on the welcome day, we recommend arriving in CDMX on Thursday, October, 5th.

Details

RSVP: Please RSVP for this party on the RSVP page by August 1st so that we can book transportation and the boats ahead of time.

Food & Drink: In addition to the market at the dock, Tranijeras float by with food and drink options. Drinks and snacks will be purchased curtesy of the Bride and Groom.

Transportation

All guests will be provided an Uber promo code which will cover the costs of an Uber to and from the event.

Check back here closer to the wedding date for the promo code and specific instructions!

Dress Code

Please dress casually for this event. The weather will most likely be in the low to mid 70's. If you are not returning to your hotel/Airbnb after the event, we recommend bringing a light jacket as the temperature may drop in the evening. Keep in mind that we will be on boats and boat hopping so stable shoes are recommended.

History of Emilio "El Indio" Fernandez

"El Indio" was a Mexican film director, screenwriter and actor and IMDB calls him "the most famous person in the history of Mexican movies." He directed films such as La Perla and Enamorada. Our venue has also been the filming location for other recognizable movies such as Santa Sangre by Alejandro Jodorowsky. In addition to how perfect this location is considering Tony's film background, Orquidea's father was also invited to one of Emilio Fernandez's parties at the height of his career!

Information

Sunday will be a casual, laid-back recovery day spent in the incredible Chapultepec Park. This park is one of the oldest and largest urban parks in Latin America. It hosts a handful of world-class museums, lakes, and a castle! It is a cultural hub where families celebrate everything and anything, host community gatherings, and cultural ceremonies.

The Bride and Groom will lounge on the lawn and guests are welcome to explore the vendors, museums, and ample walks in the area or hang out with us all day.

This event is completely optional, but we do recommend checking out Chapultapec Park at least once during your stay.

Getting There

To get to the picnic area in the park (google maps GPS point linked below), have an Uber drop you off at Museo Nacional de Antropología.

Follow the path until you reach the long entrance of the museum (you can't miss it). Directly opposite the path leading to the museum entrance, you will see a concrete seating area and a very tall red pole. With the museum behind you and the red pole in front of you, look for us on the grass to the left of the red pole, behind the fountain. See attached picture for a vantage point from the picnic spot.

Food and Drinks

You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks to the park, however, there are dozens of vendors that sell food snacks, and drinks around our picnic area.

Just down the path across Ave. Paseo de la Reforma, there are HUNDREDS more vendors to choose from.

Similar to California beaches, alcohol is present but technically prohibited in Chapultepec. So if you decide to imbibe, use discretion and put it in a cup. There are no alcoholic vendors in the park, so BYOB.
