The nearest airport to Lake Como is Milan Malpensa.
Other airports in the area include:

Train
The closest train stop is Como San Giovanni which is served from Milan's Stazione Centrale.

Car rental
There are many car hire options in the airports and we suggest looking at the following websites; Malpensa Airport, Linate Airport, Bergamo Airport.
Make sure your passports are ready to go, also:
- Outlets in Europe are different than the U.S., please bring a charger compatible with Italy (you can find plenty of options on Amazon)
- Pharmacies are everywhere in case you forgot anything (toiletries, medicine) however the brands might be different that what we have in the U.S.
- Lost check in bags might happen, putting a tracker (i.e. Apple Air Tags) can help
Check your phone plans and see if international data is included or available.
If you don’t want to use your U.S. data plan, international SIM cards or W-Fi hot spots options.
- Major credit cards are accepted everywhere (chip/contactless payments), check if you have foreign transaction fees and if you need to flag you are travelling abroad.
- If you need Euros, you can contact your bank in the U.S. in advance or you can withdraw at an ATM (with a fee) in Europe when you get there.
Great ways to tour Lake Como include bus or boat. Buses are a slightly cheaper and more frequent, but we highly suggest taking the Lake Como ferries as they provide for a much more scenic journey and a great way to view the gorgeous villas along the lake.

Bellagio
Bellagio, often referred to as the Pearl of Lake Como, is probably the most famous town of Como Lake. Its picturesque and strategic location at the junction where the Y-shaped lake divides into two branches, makes it one of the most sought-after destinations of Lake Como. Bellagio can be reached from Como by ferry boat.
Varenna
Varenna is a picturesque and traditional village, located on the eastern shore of Lake Como, Italy. An essential stop for anyone wishing to visit one of the most typical and peaceful towns of the lake.
Villa del Balbianello
It is located on a wooded promontory on Como lake. This elegant, romantic 18th century mansion and its magnificent garden have hosted writers, scholars and travelers, including Count Guido Monzino, the last owner of the Villa. Isola Comacina
Comacina Island is a unique island in Lake Como with history, art, tradition, and whose architectures and remains defy the passing of time. If you choose to tour the Island, we suggest stopping at Locanda dell’Isola for your lunch overlooking the lake. You can reach it by regular ferry from Como or Cernobbio.
