COVID Vaccinations & Testing

DC COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

Per DC Mayor's Order 2021-148, effective January 15, 2022, proof of COVID-19 vaccination and proof of ID (government-issued ID or school/work ID)  are required to attend our wedding for all guests 12 years and older. Please be prepared to show proof of FULL vaccination (at least 2 doses) upon entry.

Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include:

1.) A CDC-issued vaccination card (original),

2.) An immunization record from a healthcare provider or public health authority,

3.) A Clear Health Pass, or

4.) A photo or hard copy of an official vaccination record of a vaccine administered outside the US.

For more information and latest developments, please visit coronavirus.dc.gov/vaxdc.

Health and safety are a top priority for us. We are asking ALL guests, regardless of vaccination status, to take a COVID test no earlier than 24 hours before our wedding. We also request that you quarantine for at least five days before taking your test if possible.

Rapid, Self-Administered, and At-Home Testing are permissible.

So what exactly should the testing timeline look like for you?

Our wedding will be taking place on February 20th. This means you should begin quarantining on February 13th. You should then take your COVID test no earlier than 6pm on February 18th. While you wait for your results and leading up to the wedding, we’d also like for you to quarantine if possible.

Scan or take a photo of your results and email them to danteandtiffanywatkins@gmail.com. If you happen to receive results on the day of the wedding, please bring a copy with you.

A few important considerations to keep in mind about COVID testing...

Please keep in mind that COVID-19 is a tricky virus, therefore testing is NOT foolproof. Since a negative result is just a snapshot in time, it does NOT guarantee that you are not infected.

A negative result just means that, at the time you were tested, the sample taken did not show viral levels high enough to be reliably measured.  You could test positive even just hours after taking a test. Because of this, we'll be taking additional health and safety measures at our wedding to mitigate the potential spread of the virus from someone who may be infected, but who may have tested negative.

Testing may feel like a waste a time, but remember our goal is to take every measure possible to protect the health and well-being of our friends and families. Testing is just one of those measures.

***Regardless of your testing outcome, if you experience any signs of unexplained illness, including body chills, cough, fever, loss of taste/smell, shortness of breath, sore throat, or if you are just feeling unwell prior to our wedding, please consider attending virtually.

Testing Sites & Resources

Your local health department should offer the latest resources and information on COVID testing sites within your community on their website. You may also want to consider scheduling a free or low-cost test at your local CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Urgent Care facility (i.e. MedStar or ), or primary care physician's office. Many of these sites will require you to make an appointment at least a few days in advance, so plan ahead!

All US citizens are also eligible to receive four free At Home Rapid test kits per household via the USPS. To ensure you receive your tests by the wedding, consider ordering them today.

WHAT IF I TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID BEFORE THE WEDDING?

We understand things can sometimes happen beyond our control. If you receive a positive test result prior to or during the testing window for our wedding, you will not be permitted to attend in-person. Only guests with a negative test result will be permitted to attend in person.

Will I need to wear a mask?

At this time, all guest will be required to wear a mask. We will be providing masks at the venue for your convenience if you forget to bring your own.

How many guests will be attending the wedding?

At this time, we are expecting between 80-90 guests. We will inform you if anything changes between now and the wedding.

Will the wedding be hosted indoors or outdoors?

Since we are having a winter wedding, it will obviously take place indoors. We will be strictly adhering to the venue's COVID-safe policy, including minimum square meters per guest.

Will social distancing be encouraged?

We can't wait to have all of our favorite people together in one space! With current guidelines in place, we encourage you to avoid handshakes, hugs, or other physical contact with any guests outside of your household. We have also aligned our seating plan with current COVID restrictions to allow adequate space between guests during our dinner reception, and will be seating guests together with their close family and household members.

Will live streaming options be available if we can’t attend?

We will be offering a livestream viewing of our wedding for guests we weren't able to invite in-person or for anyone unable to attend in-person. Details and instructions for logging in will be emailed and added to the wedding website on the morning of our wedding.
