Katharine and Carter first met on June 23, 2006 at Muskoka Woods Sports Resort on Lake Rosseau. Katharine had been going to Muskoka woods as a guest since 2009 and Carter since 2002.
They both ended up starting on staff at the camp during the same summer. Katharine was teaching tennis and Carter was an archery instructor. For the next three summers, they ended up in the same place each summer at Muskoka Woods. Although no romantic sparks flew at the time, they were both aware of each others presence.
On a June weekend in 2013, Katharine and Carter had another fateful meeting at a birthday party on Lake Rosseau. They caught up, exchanged numbers and decided to meet up when the summer season ended in the city.
On September 18, they ended up at an Ai Weiwei exhibit at the AGO and "got cultured". You can see how much Carter enjoyed his first date with Katharine by making it Instagram official.
Although they both had a great time, Katharine and Carter went their separate ways and continued to enjoy life as young adults in the city.
Fast forward to the May long weekend of 2018, Katharine and Carter were both up on Lake Rosseau at their parents' cottages. In some down time, they both found themselves on Bumble hoping to find a familiar face and their paths collided once again!
At this point, Carter knew he wasn't going to miss an opportunity and organized their second first date at Archive Wine Bar for the following Wednesday.By the third date, Carter had met Katharine's parents at the beginning of a paddle board date at the Sellers Cottage and on date five, Katharine had met Carter's parents at the end of a Sunday blueberry donut date in Port Sanfield. From then on the rest was history.
By December 31, 2019, Carter was ready to ask Katharine to be his wife. In fact, he was so ready that he pre-booked to have their wedding on June 19, 2021 at Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country club before he even proposed! (Obviously COVID has put a damper on those plans)
On New Year's Eve of 2020, Carter asked Katharine to be his wife overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Palm Beach. They spent the night dancing away and celebrating their love at The Breakers New Years Eve celebration.
