David & Micaela were introduced by mutual friends- Michele & Ida at Ida's birthday party in April 2014. They were introduced in Ida's kitchen, where Michele was cooking. True to form, Micaela was more interested in food than David that day & it took weeks of Ida informing David of Micaela's whereabouts to facilitate 'chance' meetings, until eventually Micaela succumbed to David's charm & their relationship blossomed.
David proposed to Micaela in his father's home town of Setubal in Portugal on 03 August 2019. They walked to the end of the promenade & sat on the lawns overlooking the beaches of Troia. David had verbal diarrhea. He fished the ring out of his pocket & professed his undying love for Micaela, to which she responded- "Are you joking?!" David is still unsure about whether Micaela said yes or not, but he takes Micaela's enthusiasm about planning the wedding as a good sign.
