Flight Booking

You'll want to fly into the PVR airport. It's only 20 min away from the Grand Velas resort.

Arrival at PVR Airport

When you are getting ready to leave the airport, you're going to find very aggressive timeshare reps who will do anything they possibly can to get you to talk to them. They'll ask you questions about where you're staying, which shuttle you're taking, etc, anything that will get you to stop and engage with them. We've even been lied to about going through the wrong exit (in Cabo but still)!

We highly recommend that you ignore them and keep walking towards the exit. Once you exit, you'll find taxis that will overcharge you. A better option would be to call an Uber. We took Ubers everywhere in PV; it's super safe and offers transparent pricing. Review the image on the right which will show you the Uber pick up points. Depending on the direction the Uber is coming from, you may or may not have to cross the bridge.

About Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta has been appointed as The Friendliest City in the World by Travel + Leisure magazine. Be welcomed into a picturesque authenticity of Mexican culture that has transcended borders, alive on its streets and architecture, its gastronomy and traditions, and on the warmth of its people.
Its coasts are embraced by the Sierra Madre Mountains and sprinkled with beaches, islands and coves, with stunning landscapes contrasting between the sea and the mountain. Step into its tropical forests and admire its fauna whilst you embark into adrenaline-filled adventures, practice your favorite water sport and discover the rich marine life that inhabits the depths of the Pacific and be sure to visit the top attractions.
All this comes together to create an experience you’ll want to live over and over.

Puerto Vallarta - Safety

Did you know that Puerto Vallarta has a lower crime rate than that of SF and NYC? Puerto Vallarta is a wonderful city and like any other city, you want to ensure that you're being smart, safe, and are aware of your surroundings. Make sure you're traveling within the tourist areas.

Uber

Uber is available in Puerto Vallarta and it's super affordable! Make sure you have the app downloaded. If you're a new user, you can download the app.

Cellular Data

Make sure to take a look at your phone plans to see whether or not Mexico is included. Most plans allow data roaming in Mexico at no extra cost. If your current phone plan doesn't allow it, you can usually add an international plan or purchase a Google Voice number and switch your SIM out.

Currency Exchange

Couple of options:

- If you have an ATM card without withdrawal fees, we'd recommend withdrawing money at the airport.

- You can always bring USD with you, as most places will accept USD.

- You can also order MXN pesos from your bank prior to the trip so you can have some local currency on hand.
