Our Story

Caleb and Teresa both swiped right 6 years ago and here we are now. Thanks Coffee Meets Bagel!

A couple of months into dating, we both still had the app on our phones. Whenever noon rolled around, we would announce that it's Bagel Time and we would compare the matches we received. Caleb especially enjoyed trying to see if he recognized any of the Asians that Teresa was matched with (he did). One day, Teresa announced that it was Bagel Time and Caleb asked "Why do you still have this app?!". He then proceeded to delete the app off her phone and they've been together since.

Her story

I moved to San Francisco in September 2013 and met Caleb in November. At the time, I was working in hospitality where my work hours were unpredictable and I was consistently asked/told to work overtime. I remember that I had to reschedule our first date a couple of times but thankfully, Caleb was persistent. For our first date, Caleb chose a fancy wine bar in Union Sq and then drinks at the Four Seasons. My initial thoughts were, "Wow this guy is super bougie!" (this proved to be a very accurate assessment). I remember really crushing on Caleb during our first date. I loved that he fed me In-N-Out after bougie drinks and loved when his fun and mischievous side came out and he stole a Christmas tree ornament from a tree in Fisherman's Wharf. I also really appreciated that the morning after our first date, Caleb didn't play any games and texted me to make plans for a few days later.

For me, things were really solidified for me on our 4th date when we were watching a scary movie. First off, Caleb HATES scary movies but decided to brave one to impress me. During the movie, my stomach was constantly growling and was very audible during the quiet moments of the movie. Even though I insisted that I was fine, Caleb paused the movie and cooked me pasta from scratch. He definitely knew that the way to my heart was through my stomach. From then on, we spent the majority of the week together, explored the city, did day trips, and flexed our cooking skills by trying new recipes together. I love that Caleb is so open to trying new things and will be game for any suggestions I throw his way.

After 6 years, we're still doing almost everything together and am so excited for all the adventures to come.

His story

Teresa and I began our relationship like many couples these days, via an app on our phones. While perhaps not the most interesting of starts, our first date was by far the best I'd ever had. We met at a swanky lounge near the hotel she was working at. I was waiting for her at the bar, nervously turning my head towards the entrance every 30 seconds to see if she had arrived. When the moment finally came, I remember seeing her big smile. I was immediately disarmed. The way she scrunched her nose when she laughed. She was so cute with her maroon top inside out because she had rushed out the door as to not be late. Frankly, I don't remember too much of the conversation that night. All I remember was how easy it was. It felt like we were old friends catching up. As the night progressed we found ourselves not wanting the night to end. We went next door to another bar, then off to In-n-out for a late-night snack. As we went our separate ways for the night I had a smile on my face and butterflies in my stomach. I couldn't wait to see her again, so I immediately made plans for a second date (which in hindsight probably seemed a bit clingy). After a month of dating each other, we were essentially attached at the hip. Our friends started calling us "Teraleb." I wanted to do everything with Teresa, because she made everything better. Six years later, she still makes everything better. I'm marrying my best friend.

The Proposal

It all happened during a Euro couple's trip that Caleb and Teresa had planned with David and Felicia (both of whom are in the bridal party!). Teresa had a feeling that Caleb was going to propose sometime while they were in Bordeaux but Caleb still managed to throw a curveball her way.

Caleb and Teresa had been traveling for 16+ hours from SFO > Barcelona > Bordeaux. After a couple of flight delays, they finally landed and met up with David and Felicia at their condo rental. After settling in, Caleb insisted that they all go out to celebrate their first night in Europe together. Teresa, exhausted from traveling, gave in to the pressure agreed to venture out. As they all walked to the plaza, Teresa kept trying to talk to David and Felicia while Caleb was trying to create space in order to start his proposal speech. It wasn't until they all arrived at the predesignated plaza that Teresa could sense Caleb's nervousness. Stumbling on his words, Caleb did his best to encapsulate his feelings and desire to take the next step. Teresa gave Caleb a confused look, and he responded with "Yea, it's happening" and got down on one knee.
