Tamara and one of her close friends, Bernie, had just come from a dinner event. When Bernie asked her to come over to her house, as she had a friend, she wanted her to meet. At this time Tamara had, had her share of dating untrustworthy guys and so she declined her friend’s invitation. However, Bernie was very persistent and began pleading with Tamara to please come over. Reluctantly she agreed but stated she would come for only 10 minutes. Shortly after arriving at Bernie’s house Duane and his friend Renno arrived. Tamara was very serious about not staying; she was so serious she sat on the stairs and would not remove her coat. Although Tamara was very adamant about not staying, once she and Duane started talking, that 10 minutes had come and gone without either of them noticing. They talked until the wee hours in the morning, and this was the start of a great friendship. From that day on, they have been inseparable!
Duane and Tamara, unlike most, don’t have some elaborate story of a proposal. They are two straight forward kinds of people who don’t like to beat around the bush. They spoke of marriage quite often but wanted everything to line up just right. After years of discussing the idea of marriage, one day, they were talking, just about life and all that they had been through or could go through in the future. In the midst of them brainstorming as they often do, they thought about what if this or what if that and realized they didn’t want to have such uncertainty in their lives. Seeing that at this time they had been together for ten years and couldn’t see themselves without one another, they decided that day “Let's Get Married”!
