The story began on a cold December night in 2017, December 9th to be exact! Tabassom's parents and Shayan's parents were invited to a Christmas party hosted by a family friend, but neither Shayan nor Tabassom wanted to go to the party. Shayan preferred to stay home and Tabassom wasn't feeling well and wanted to stay home to rest. But their parents insisted that they come since it was Christmas and family time! So to be respectful, Tabassom got ready and Shayan put on his ugly sweater and they both headed to the party with their families. Little did they know that their destiny wanted them in the party to change their lives...forever.
While Shayan was mingling with his parent's friends at the party, one of them asked, "Shayan, when are you going to get married ... we are getting old." Shayan looked back at the guy and replied, "Haha, that's a good one, ask me again in 10 years." Shayan needed a drink after that. So he poured himself his favorite drink and then the dancing began!
After all the festivities and dancing everyone started to clean up the place to get ready to go home. Shayan noticed from a far distance, a young beautiful lady, helping to remove the ornaments from the Christmas tree. Shayan went up to her and said, "Hi, My name is Shayan. Have you been here this entire time? Why didn't you dance!?" She replied, "Hi, I'm Tabassom! Yes, I've been here and I danced as well!". Shayan replied, "Oh, well I hope you had fun, it was nice meeting you."
The next day, Shayan thought about this young lady all day and he finally went on Instagram...searched her name...and followed her! (And no, he didn't stalk her...her profile was on private).
The rest is history!
On March, 22 2019, surrounded by their close friends and family, Shayan planned a surprise proposal at the Gaylord Hotel of the National Harbor. Once Tabassom and Shayan arrived at the Hotel, Tabassom thought that they were going to a restaurant to meet their friends for a double date. Little did she know that around the corner their friends and family were waiting for Shayan's surprise marriage proposal. SHE SAID YES! After taking many pictures, and enjoying the view, everyone went to Maggiano's in Tysons Corner for an amazing celebratory dinner!
