Julia and Matt connected in one of the least likely of ways; Tinder (an online dating service). They matched and started a conversation.
Matthew and Julia talked briefly and set a coffee date for a few days later.
Before that could happen, illness struck Matt's roommates, Chase and Anthony. Matt built a blanket fort in his room to quarantine himself in an attempt to stay healthy. Of course once Julia found out that Matthew had built a fort, she had to come see for herself. They instantly connected and stayed up watching movies and talking.
Finally, the couple went on their coffee date at Java in downtown Boise. It started with Matthew picking Julia up at her house and her roommates all spying through the window as they walked out the door.
By the end of the date, Julia was completely smitten and Matthew was enraptured.
The two made it official on New Years Day of 2014. Since then, they have been on tons of adventures and love experiencing life together. In particular they enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, cornhole and trying new things. In 2017, they bought their first house and have enjoyed making it their own. One of their favorite things is barbecuing dinner and relaxing in their courtyard with their cats.
After a few years together, they decided they wanted to add to their little "family" and they got two cats! Samwise and Bagheera. About 6 months after that, they happened across a stray kitten and couldn't turn her away. They took her in and named her Noel since they found her on Christmas Day. These additions to the family have ended up ruling their home in the best way possible.
For two years, Julia and Matt had been planning a HUGE trip to Europe as Julia's sister Bevin was getting married in Ireland. Since they were already making the trek across the Atlantic, they planned to extend their stay to see a few different countries. They ended up staying in Europe for nearly two months, traveling from country to country. It was the trip of a lifetime.
On the last day of the vacation of their dreams, Matt and Julia roamed around London on a big red bus to see as much as they could in the short time they had there. They disembarked at Trafalgar Square to walk around. They admired Nelson's Column surrounded by the Landseer Lions and then trekked on to find somewhere to eat. They encountered a Christmas Festival and Julia was in love as Christmas is Julia's all time favorite holiday. After eating and wandering around the festival, they headed back to the bus to see some more sights. On the way back to the bus they had to go through the square one last time. This is when Matthew trusted a stranger with his phone and asked them to take a picture of them. He sneakily asked the man to take a video and this is when Matthew to get down on one knee and ask Julia to be his wife. Without a doubt in her mind, Julia said Yes!
