Where Should I Fly Into?
We recommend flying directly into Nashville International Airport. Airport code is BNA. It's a small airport (especially in comparison to LAX and SEA), but we have plenty of non-stop flights in and out every day.
Note that Southwest Airlines typically has the best deals and offers 2 checked bags for free!
How Do I Get Around Town?
You can choose to get a rental car while visiting but it's worth noting that Nashville is VERY ride share friendly. The cost of parking can sometimes be higher than the cost of an Uber or Lyft. If you're feeling adventurous, Nashville also has plenty of Scooter options available (Bird, Lyft, Uber, etc).
Nashville's neighborhoods have their own unique names and personal style. One thing to note is everything is VERY close. With no traffic, you can get from one edge of town to the other in 20 minutes. Nashville has been thriving in the last few years, growing more than ever which has caused a lot of transitional neighborhoods to pop up.
While there are plenty of options, the following are some neighborhoods to consider for your stay or visit to get the best Nashville experience:
Downtown: If you want to be close to the typical "Nashville" experience, this is the place to stay. Broadway is our main "tourist" strip with tons of honky tonks, rooftop bars and plenty of dining options. Lately, also the home of new boutique hotels. It can be loud and have lots of action any day of the week, so that's something to note if you're looking for a more quiet stay. You can still get the Nashville experience without staying downtown. Bridgestone Arena (home of The Predators and any major concert coming into town), Ryman Auditorium and Ascend Amphitheater are all within walking distance. If there's a lot going on, it can be very crowded. We will advise on events taking place in town closer to the wedding date.
The Gulch: One of Nashville's newest (and swankiest) neighborhoods. You're still close to the Downtown action here but can expect a little less congestion than Broadway. The Gulch is also home of various of the famous Nashville murals, including Taylor Swift's mural.
Midtown: A favorite to many locals, Midtown draws a crowd of many college aged kids. With Vanderbilt and Belmont both within walking distance, it's a fun area to experience without getting suckered into the tourist traps.
12 South: As the name suggests, located on 12th street and south of downtown, "12S" is a quiet neighborhood with local dining options. If you want a more relaxing experience, this would be a great place to check out.
Germantown: Located just North of downtown, Germantown is a lovely neighborhood with some of the finest dining experiences in town. Located near the ballpark and our Farmers Market, you will be staying with the locals here.
West End: Located just West of downtown, you can expect a much slower pace on this side of town. There are several hotels located on West End which are recommended and more affordable than downtown options. West End is home of the famous Parthenon, which is located at Centennial Park.
Wedgewood/Houston: This is an up and coming area with lots of great restaurants, bars and new homes. There may be great Airbnb options in this part of town and we would definitely recommend staying in this neighborhood.
Yes, we are "Music City" but there's so much more to Nashville. We hope that you are able to take advantage of your trip and see our thriving city.
Nashville has something for everyone and we will be sending our out of town guests some special suggestions. In the meantime, take a look at the links below to get a feel for what to expect when you land in the 615!
Here's a list of just a few of the typical "Nashville tourist attractions." They all offer something different and unique, depending on your personality and style.
Grand Ole Opry
Ryman Auditorium
Country Music Hall of Fame
"Where can I go to just hear some good live music?"
The answer is: pretty much everywhere. The typical Nashville "music" experience is what we call a 'round' which is essentially, a songwriters round. Musicians will sit around with about 3-4 others and each of them will take turns singing some of the songs they've written. Many are songs you've heard on the radio because a big name has "cut" the song.
If you want this experience, we recommend the following for a 'dinner & music' experience. You'll want to make sure you silence your phones and pay attention because we treat this experience like a sacred one and give our performers every ounce of our attention!
Bluebird Cafe (everyone who is anyone has performed here and reservations are a must)
The Listening Room Cafe
