FLIGHT TIPS

Many of you have chosen to opt for deal alerts on discount airfare that we can can send out. If you haven't and want to be on this list please let us know and we can add you.

The most cost effective way to book a flight to Sicily is by finding a cheap roundtrip airfare into a major European city. London, Paris, Munich, Rome, etc. From there, book a separate roundtrip ticket to Palermo, Sicily (Palermo airport is only 30 minutes away, Catania is 2 hours). This will be much cheaper than booking a roundtrip flight directly to Sicily.

Renting A Car

Renting A Car

If you want to see Sicily we highly recommend renting a car. It's a beautiful island and if you get the chance we implore you to explore it.

When renting a car, it's always best to book directly with the rental company. Use Expedia or a similar website to find the best deal and the book directly with the company of your choice. Sicilians aren't known for their organization and third party bookings aren't as smooth as here in the United States.

***IMPORTANT NOTE***

If you do rent a car, PLEASE get the extra insurance. The streets of Palermo are insane and in general there is little regard your vehicle. Sicilian streets are very old and often small and tight. Having the insurance will give you the peace of mind to drive like a true Italian and not give a damn.

Uber and Public Transportation

Uber and Public Transportation

Within the main cities you will find some public transportation and while Uber has been banned in Italy, you will be able to take the Italian equivalent. Download the APP - itTaxi.

English speaking drivers in Sicily is not super common so brush up on some basic Italian, or at the very least make sure you enter the right address!

Vaccination

Vaccination

It should come as no surprise , but the world is a different place than it was during our first attempt at the wedding. Italy, as with every country in the EU, has enforced vaccine mandates for indoor dining, museums, gyms, etc. Testing is also required prior to arrival to most countries regardless of vaccination status. While we hope the landscape of the world looks very different in June of next year, if we've learned anything it is that there is really no way to tell. We will be monitoring the situation, the local laws and the CDC guidelines in order to respond accordingly.

This could mean a vaccine mandate and / or PCR testing upon entry into Italy / our venue. Hopefully, Covid is just a bad memory by the time we get to the wedding date.
