A Groom’s Journey

Our journey began on New Year's Eve of 2011, when Stephen (Groomsman) messaged me the location of his New Year's Eve Party. After leaving a prior engagement, my good friend Travon and I arrived. We walked into the party as if we owned it. I naturally gravitated towards Christopher and Stephen (Groomsmen) to wish them a “Happy New Year”. However, I had more on my mind. I knew everyone in that room, but the petite girl across the room in green. My new goal was to find out the identity of this mysterious woman. Asking around, I found out the girl in the green was the roommate of Ashley (Bridesmaid), Christopher’s girlfriend. As the night progressed, I built the confidence to mingle with her. Although no numbers were exchanged, we really hit it off. Before leaving, I did ask for her name, she replied “Sherell”. After that night, I never thought I would see Sherell again however, fate had other plans.

It was early February, me and the guys decided to hit up a local bar downtown. As soon as we walked in, I see the craziest guy on the dance floor hitting the “Dougie” he then grabs a female from the crowd as a dance partner. Her face was screaming “somebody save me!” It was at that moment I realized this was the girl from the party. I confirmed with Christopher and Ethan (Bestman), and they urged me to step in to save the day. I swooshed in to grab Sherell’s hand to save her from the mad man. We proceeded to dance and have a good time. After the night was over, I dropped the ball once again and did not get her number.

Third time is the charm! A few weeks after crossing paths at the bar, we ran into each other at the Drake concert. I could not let this opportunity slip again. That night we exchanged numbers and the rest was history!

A Bride’s Journey

It all began on December 31, 2011.  With New Year’s Eve plans already set, I was ready for the night. After leaving a prior event, some of my friends and I headed over to Ashley’s New Year's Eve Party. We made it to the party right before midnight, just in time for the New Year’s count down. Little did I know that shortly after midnight my life would be forever changed.  In comes a familiar face. I had seen him before because we attended the same elementary and middle school, but never officially met him. After locking eyes for the first time we spent a few minutes talking.  However, Charles left the party before we exchanged any information.

After a few weeks we ran into each other again. This time it was at a local bar downtown called, Big Uglies. My friends and I were out on the dance floor, as usual, when a random guy pulled me away for a dance. While dancing with this random guy, I saw Charles walk into the bar with a group of his friends. We made eye contact and to my surprise, Charles made his way towards me to rescue me from this random guy.  We danced for a while, but by the end of the night, we still had not exchanged numbers. In fact it was not until we ran into each other a third time, at a Drake concert, that Charles asked for my number.  After a few dates, I knew Charles was someone special and I enjoyed getting to know him more and more. On June 18, 2012 Charles asked to meet up for some ice cream from Marble Slab in Sandhills. On that night Charles became my boyfriend, and the rest is history!
