Planning Your Trip
If you are flying in for the wedding the closest airport is the Heathrow International (LHR) Airport. London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is a little further away, but still easy to get to Abingdon from. You can get to Abingdon by train, bus or car. Traveling by bus is probably the best option to get to Oxford and Abingdon, but if you plan to explore the Cotswolds and/ or nearby areas, hiring a car may be easiest.
By Bus:
Take the Oxford Airline bus to the City Centre. Then catch the X3 or X13 into the Abingdon Town Centre. From there you should be within 1 mile of most hotels.
To Abingdon by car from LHR:
Follow M25 and M40 to A329 in Oxfordshire. Take exit 7 from M40. Follow A329, B4015 and A415 to Conduit Rd in Abingdon.
To Oxford by car from LHR:
Follow M25 and M40 to A40 in Oxfordshire. Take exit 8 from M40. Follow A40 to A420 in Oxford.
Taxi Service:
If you don't want to hire a car, another option for getting around is a taxi service (no Uber or Lyft in Oxford or Abingdon). Here are few taxi services in the area:
-Sus Taxis
-Thames Valley Taxis
-Auto Taxi
Abingdon Street Fair

Punting on the Thames
Choose self-drive or chauffeured and float along the river Thames and/or Cherwell past college rowers, and explore the byways past Christ Church Meadow, the Iffley Village, and the Botanic Gardens.
Oxford United FC Game
Check their schedule for a live game on the home pitch. Oxford is in the 3rd Professional League of English Football, so tickets are reasonably priced, but the love of the game is still enjoyable. Seb recommends getting a ticket in the Oxford Mail Stand for the best atmosphere!
