How We Met

Like most modern day love stories we met the most romantic way possible....online. I guess with every other aspect of our lives being on our phones, why not meet your soulmate that way? After four days of talking nonstop Matt did what many young millennials fear and asked me on a real date. We met for dinner and my fears of running out of things to talk about quickly faded when the restaurant finally asked us to leave since it was past 11:00 and they had been closed for an hour. The next two years flew by with meeting each other's families and friends, sporting events, trips, and dating through a pandemic. If you can make it through 2020, we're convinced you can make it through anything!

How We Got Engaged

To get to our beautiful proposal we have to go back a few years to the day that Matt asked me to be his girlfriend. Matt and I had been dating for a while and on a visit up to Matt's beloved Purdue he took me to a pumpkin patch in the middle of literal no where. We walked through the corn maze and got some amazing pumpkins for my front porch and Matt asked me to officially be his girlfriend (thanks to his sister who had pressured him to close the deal!). Fast forward two years to our second anniversary and after a few questionable stories from my mom on why we were actually going to Purdue, the entire family pulls into that same pumpkin patch and my radar was up. As we're walking around the pumpkin patch and Matt is no where to be found I started to realize my hopes of a proposal might not be happening. My sister suggested we walk through the corn maze and around the second turn stands Matt next to a sign that read "Will you marry me?". His two best friends were there for moral support and held the flowers and a custom Green Bay Packers jersey with Burkhart and 22 (Matt already planing for the wedding year) on the back. Matt got down on one knee and all I could think about was "say yes, say yes, say yes" (PTSD from forgetting to say yes when asked to prom just a few years ago or maybe 10). Matt popped the question and obviously I said yes! Clad with more pumpkins for the front porch we headed back to Indy where a surprise dinner had been planned complete with both of our families and the celebrating commenced.

How we're getting married

We couldn't be more excited to be celebrating our special day with family and friends from near and far. We both love Christmas and were excited to be able to get married just a week before the holidays. We fell in love with the beautiful Indiana Statehouse with it's elegant gold detail and wonderful Indiana history and knew this was the place to say I do. The Indiana Roof Ballroom was an easy choice as Sarah's parents celebrated their wedding there as well on December 20th, 1986. We can't wait to eat, drink, and be married with all of you!
