Things to Do

East Beach

Enjoy a morning walk, bike riding, sunbathing, fishing, or shell searching on East Beach, the stretch of beach along the oceanside of St. Simons Island. There are many public access points to the beach, the most popular being at the  U.S. Coast Guard Station. Depending on the tide, you can even access the southern point of East Beach at Pier Village.

Pier Village

St. Simons' Pier Village district is located on the south end of the Island near East Beach. The Village serves as the downtown social hub and is a great destination for shopping, dining and walking on the pier which overlooks the ocean and Jekyll Island across the way . The St. Simons Lighthouse and Museum is also nearby.

Redfern Village

A shady village setting located at the midpoint of the Island near the traffic circle is St. Simons' Redfern Village. This district offers an array of shops, restaurants, and lively bars. Favorite shops include Two Friends, Gogo Jewelry, Edward on St. Simon, and Golden Isles Olive Co. Restaurants include Gnats Landing, Bubba Garcia, Fancy Q Sushi, and Catch 228.

Fort Frederica National Monument

Take a visit to Fort Frederica to explore the archaeological remnants of a fort and town built by James Oglethorpe between 1736 and 1748 to protect the southern boundary of the British colony of Georgia from Spanish raids. The grounds have beautiful views of the marsh and the MacKay River.
