"Oregon Semi-Formal"
Before you Google what this means, don't worry about it - we made it up! Please wear your preferred wedding outfit while keeping in mind the weather and venue.
The average weather on this day is sunny and 70s with a light breeze. We'll be on grass all day so consider that as you select your shoes. A light jacket in Oregon is never a bad idea.
There will be plenty of shade and a large tent to keep you comfortable.
"If you're going to wear sandals, at least put on a nice pair of socks." - Sam
(A note from Christina)
My great-grandparents immigrated to western Pennsylvania in the 1920's from southern Italy. They put down roots in a small town called Franklin with a thriving southern Italian community.
During the great depression in that region, it became customary to have buffets of homemade Italian cookies at weddings instead of cake out of frugality. Once the economy got better and cakes were back in vogue, the cookie table continued!
I grew up hearing about the extravagant cookie tables my grandparents and parents had at their weddings and I really wanted to carry on the tradition. My sweet mom has been baking up a storm for months from my grandma and great grandma's recipes. She came for a weekend to visit me in Oregon and we had a fun time baking the rest together (and also drinking champagne).
We'll have 12 time-honored, family-favorite recipes and more than 90 dozen cookies! And don't miss the chocolate made in my hometown, Findlay, Ohio. Mangia!
