We first met when Sajani was moving into The Commons dormitory at our old stomping grounds, Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I was hanging out with my friends at the RA front desk when she walked in. She was a vision, her hair was in pigtails, wearing Birkenstocks and rolling her huge pink suitcase. I turned to my friend Dylan to see if he knew her (he is someone who knows everybody) and to my luck he did!
I made a mental note of her name but didn't see her after that until she attended NOVA's Indian Student Association social. I got to know her more that evening, Sajani was a Gators fan, who recently moved from Gainesville to pursue her nursing degree here but I knew I could soon turn her into a Nova Shark "Fins UP"! She was bold, during the social SHE came up to ME and actually ask me for my number!
Several texts back and forth lead to our first date which was to The Weeknd concert in Miami. This was Sajani's favorite artist and her first concert ever. Our second date was a pottery painting class in Miami. She painted this amazing starry nights bowl while mine wasn't so elegant. Soon after that we began hanging out a lot more and studying together, often times with her friends in dorm meeting rooms. While getting to know each other and studying together our friendship and relationship grew.
I soon asked her to be my girlfriend by playing Rihanna-Stay on the piano with roses, wine and a build-a-bear dressed up as a princess that she is.
Our story is 8 years long, full of love, accomplishments, music concerts, long distance, world travels and finally proposing to Sajani in Cappadocia, Turkey where she said YES!
