Sabina's side:
When you know, you know. Roshan caught my eye as soon as I walked into Barbarossa Lounge on New Year's Eve 2020 in San Francisco. I thought it was going to be another average night, but to my surprise, I found myself blushing while telling my roommate that the guy we just talked to is cute *AHHH!* I felt an instant connection to him.
By the end of the night we were racing for miles down the streets of San Francisco and I couldn’t believe someone was willing to run with me. I had this unexplainable feeling that I’ve known him my whole life. In fact, such an overwhelming feeling that I told my mom I was going to marry him before we had even gone on our second date. My heart somehow knew that I had met my best friend and from everyday that has passed, it has proven to be true.
As it turns out, our love story began long before I ever realized it. The universe has been trying to put us together for years.
Roshan's side:
In 2018, there were over fifteen thousand people who ran in the San Francisco Marathon weekend, but only one caught my eye. I first saw Sabina after she and my cousin had finished running in the SF half marathon. I remember trying to muster up the courage to talk to her after the race but before I could think of a cheesy pickup line, she decided to leave and run home; I guess 13.1 miles weren’t enough for her. I was left thinking that would be the last time I ever would see her, but the universe had other ideas.
A year and a half later, I found myself in San Francisco at the Barbarossa Lounge to celebrate New Years and just before we rang in the year 2020, the most beautiful woman caught my eyes. There again was the same girl that I wished I had spoken to at the SF marathon the year before, but thankfully this time I had 1.5 years to think of a cheesy pickup line. By the end of night, Sabina and I felt like we had known each other for years and years. From that moment, I knew I wanted to share the rest of my life with her. Years later, we found out that the universe really did mean to have us find each other; not only did we find out that we met when we were 16 but I also went to Sabina’s house for a New Year's gathering in 2013.
Each and every day since the moment I met her, I couldn’t stop smiling whenever I was with Sabina; she truly made me the luckiest guy in the world. She is my soulmate, my best friend, and the love of my life. On July 23rd, 2022, I knelt down on one knee and asked Sabina to marry me! And on the following morning, we ran the full San Francisco Marathon of 26.2 miles together.
