Rachel and Eddie first met during the summer of 2014 in Minnesota. She was finishing up her internship and he had just returned home after spending the summer interning in Charlotte. It just so happened that they both swiped right on Tinder and went on their first date - lunch at a Korean grocery store, followed by a trip to Minnehaha falls, tandem biking and some delicious froyo at Chilly Billy’s. Although trying to be casual, with just a week left in the same city, Eddie asked Rachel on a date every single day for the next 5 days, spending each day as if it were their last together, eventually writing farewell letters at the Minnesota state fair with no intention of continuing their summer fling.

Somehow despite every intention not to, they found themselves continuing to talk almost every single day. Things just clicked. After a month of pretending there wasn’t anything more, the above email was sent.

After a year of long distance, Eddie made the move to Chicago and they both began their careers as consultants. Chicago was an amazing time with a lot of fond memories, many of which were freezing cold. They found themselves surrounded and supported by a great group of friends from Northwestern, Duke, work and beyond.

Having talked about living in New York during one of their first dates, they made their dream come true and started a new chapter of their life, both moving on from consulting and adopting their dog Romeo. New York inspired them to be more adventurous, to travel and learn. It was a true melting pot where they met old and new friends, and truly started creating a life together, even attending business school at Columbia together.

One night in February, when Rachel was in class, Eddie was scheduled to do his CBS matters, a Columbia tradition where students open up about who they are and what matters to them in their lives. Their friend was also “hosting a small cocktail party” that night. Skipping the last half of class, Rachel went to attend Eddie’s presentation, dressed up in advance for the cocktail party. Jokingly, she texted Eddie “it would be funny if you proposed since I’m all dressed up”. This sent Eddie into a frenzy but Chris came to the rescue and texted back “BRB let me go get a ring pop”. An hour later, Eddie for the first time after seven years of dating, successfully surprised Rachel in the most perfect way possible.

The couple will be married at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Both avid scuba divers and fans of beluga whales, this was the perfect destination. We look forward to SEAing you there!
