Is there parking at Cafe Brauer?
Cafe Brauer does not have a parking lot. While there is free street parking, it can be difficult to come by on a Saturday in the summer.
We recommend taking an Uber/Lyft or taxi. Or, if driving from out of town, we recommend using the SpotHero app to book a spot ahead of time.
For your convenience, we have blocked discounted rates at the following hotels. Please use the provided link to book online. If calling the hotels to make your reservation, be sure to mention O'Brien/Weeks block to receive our discount.
Rooms will be available at these rates until a set date that is indicated below.
Should you have any issues with booking your rooms, please reach out to our planner, Jen, who will be happy to assist you.
Our home base for the weekend!
Our room block no longer applies but you can still book rooms through the Thompson's website below.
Poised against the vastness of Lake Michigan, perfectly placed trees and grand historic mansions dot the manicured streets of Chicago’s historic Gold Coast. Within a short morning stroll, you can discover Oak Street’s trendy boutiques, the Magnificent Mile, the beauty of Lake Michigan at Oak Street Beach, as well as the best shopping and legendary nightlife the city has to offer.

Eclectic in-room furnishings, sweeping views of Lake Michigan and the city’s iconic skyline, across-the-street access to Lincoln Park, and award-winning on-site eateries all set the tone for an experience that is quintessentially Chicago—and always genuine.

Set in a historic building that’s considered one of Chicago’s finest landmarks, this is the height of opulence — but it’s also triumphantly modern. Think smart, sophisticated, and stylish.

Designed by renowned Chicago architect Harry Weese, Swissotel Chicago is an award-winning luxury hotel overlooking the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, and just steps from the Magnificent Mile. The distinctive 4-diamond, all-glass hotel offers spectacular wrap-around views from Navy Pier to Millennium Park, 662 guest rooms and suites, five premier ballrooms, state-of-the-art penthouse fitness centre, and spotless European-style service.
Welcome to Chicago, the best place on earth (in the summer)! In addition to our celebration, we hope everyone has a chance to explore what the city has to offer, and we have highlighted some of our favorite dining and drinking options available in various neighborhoods below. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Grooms if you have questions or are looking for a specific recommendation.
This bustling and energetic urban neighborhood—where Patrick and Kelly spent several years living just blocks away from one another (unknowingly)—has everything you need: top-notch dining, shopping, bars, and more. This neighborhood hosts the location of our Friday night welcome drinks event and several hotels in our wedding block, so everything listed below is a short walk away for most guests.
