IMPORTANT NOTE: We're hearing there are very long lines at customs. We apologize. Come prepared with light clothes and snacks. It gets hot and there aren't many snack options before your shuttle ride to Nosara.

Iguana Surf Club
We’ll call this homebase. If you tell then you’re on the Ash Family Discount you can join the surf club with towels, a locker, surfboards and great wifi for under $80 (normally $200). If you leave from here to the beach, that’s where our beach spot will be.

NOTE: PLEASE BE CAREFUL ON THE MAIN ROADS. The roads are not to be messed with. Drive slowly at all times. Take a TUKTUK when the sun goes down. Don’t walk on the main highway at night. If you’re stuck somewhere, please call us. We’ve seen many tourists arrive and immediately get into an accident.

If you are renting a car to get around, a crossover SUV is best. Nosara has recently paved its main road but all the side roads are rugged. Liberia has plenty of car rental options. Nosara does too but can be unreliable.
Do you need to rent a car? You definitely don’t need one and can take simple transit in town (tuktuks can be ordered ahead of time or hailed at the side of the road). However, it doesn't hurt to have someone in your group of friends rent a car.
Where to book: Expedia, Kayak and all booking sites are reliable.
IMPORTANT: Don't buy the insurance offered on the website. Costa Rica requires you to buy liability insurance through your car rental agency and won't accept pre-purchased policies.

Everyone and almost everything in town runs on WhatsApp. From Tuktuk drivers to restaurants, it's all WhatsApp. Even with iPhones we encourage you to WhatsApp each other while you're there.

Also has good options. Not quite Bodhi though. https://www.nalunosara.com/studio
Gym
There’s a nice gym at Gilded Iguana next to Jade and an even nicer one at Bodhi.

Costa Rica has always required travel health insurance for entry into the country. You must show proof of purchase upon entry. Here is a link explaining what plans meet the country's requirements:
PLEASE READ: www.visitcostarica.com/en/costa-rica/planning-your-trip/entry-requirements
With everything happening in the world right now we want to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable while celebrating in Costa Rica. We'll keep you up to date with all important information here.
Here is the latest:
COVID:
Most of Nosara's establishments are open air (even the yoga studios have multiple outdoor options) and restaurants in town are almost exclusively open air, which not only ensures lovely ambiance but great air circulation. Masks are required for entry into any indoor businesses (grocery stores, pharmacy, indoor shopping) and as of the new year proof of vaccination will be required to eat at any restaurant.
All tourists under 18 years of age may enter the country without a travel policy. Unvaccinated tourists 18 years of age and older must purchase a travel policy that covers COVID-19 care and quarantine if necessary. However, unvaccinated tourists 12 years and older will not be allowed to enter commercial establishments as of January 8, 2022. The requirement of being fully-vaccinated to enter commercial establishments, except for stated exceptions, DOES NOT PREVENT tourists without vaccination, with incomplete vaccination schedules or inoculated with vaccines not admitted in Costa Rica, from entering the country to visit family, friends or their properties in the country.
All tourists must complete the Health Pass before entering the country. Highly recommend doing it before you head to the airport.

Pack what you'll need. While there are definitely stores with flip flops and a some bathing suits options, Nosara isn't a tourist trap so it doesn't have a ton of options. You'll definitely find what you're looking for; board shorts, rash guard or $24 bottles of sunscreen are all available but we highly recommend coming with your own "stuff."
In terms packing, try to remember that it's hot. You will likely never need jeans or a sweater, even in the evenings. Most people walk around in flip flops all day and night, so leave the heavy shoes at home.

While the internet in Nosara is great, there are moments when it can flicker due to monkeys running across the cables (true story). However, this is rare. Ash worked from Nosara with perfect Zoom meetings for 4 months (his colleagues thought he was in Fort Lauderdale). It just depends on what hotel you're staying in. Airbnbs for the most part have reliable internet.
Bodhi Tree, El Pepperoni, La luna, Harmony Hotel and Guilded Iguana have reliable internet as well, notably Guilded Iguana and Harmony Hotel.
