Maid of Honor

As her older sister, I can’t remember a time when Nioly wasn’t in my life. She is not only a sibling, but one of my closest friends who I speak to daily! I’m so excited for this new journey that Nioly and Chris are embarking on and even more honored to be a part of it!!!

Ni and I met during college. She was a secret hater but came to her senses soon enough for us to become inseparable for almost our entire college experience. We were roomies for three years and each year, our other roommates kept dropping like flies until it was just us two! I don't have any sisters of my own, but Nioly is truly my soul sister. From college to law school, from marriage to babies (and being my personal on-call midwife), Ni has been by my side during all of the biggest moments of my life. I'm honored to be by her side for this LONG awaited day!!

Our friendship started in high school English.  We started off writing poems about racial injustice (titled Oreos), transitioned to a rightfully obsessive love of Broadway (always TLK) and took a chance and applied for HBCUs (where we both found love). Our friendship is never questioned no matter how far apart life take us. From collectively spending the most hours in the library to the confident, accomplished ladies we are today, I am so proud to have a friend like you and for the chance to sing Grasslands Chants at your wedding.

Who would have thought that being perpetually homesick my freshman year of college, would lead me to orchestra practice (with a flute I hadn’t played in over 2 years) right next to Nioly! Over the last decade, we’ve survived nursing school, being roommates, our first and many adult jobs, grad school, living in different states & most importantly, finding love. I wouldn’t have wanted to discover myself with anyone else by my side. Thank you for choosing me to stand beside you on your special day!!

Greetings from Sunny Florida! I've known Nioly since Freshman year in college; however our relationship really blossomed the end of our sophomore year at Oakwood University. One memory that sticks out is when she took me in during a crazy winter ice storm. I was attempting to drive on ice (crazy I know) to my off-campus apartment and my car kept slipping down the hill. Once I realized there was no way I could get home, I reached out to Nioly and she gladly invited me into her house to stay until it was safe the next morning. After that night I knew she was a friend I wanted to keep around forever. Fast forward to today and we are still such great friends. I am so honored and blessed that Nioly chose me to be one of her bridesmaids. It was an OF COURSE when she asked me. I've always been team Chris and Nioly, and always will. God has truly blessed their union and I’m so happy they have finally decided to tie the knot! I can’t wait for the wedding! I love you both dearly! #ChrisgetsononeNI
