What is a Baraat?
The Baraat is the traditional groom’s procession toward the wedding. The groom will come in with all Baraatis (the grooms friends and family) with tons of dancing to kick off the wedding!
Traditional Ceremonies & Pictures with the Elephant
For guests who would like to see or take pictures with the elephant prior to the Baraat, please arrive by 5:30 PM. The Baraat (groom's procession) will start in the back of the Loews hotel and work it's way up to the site of the Milni. The Milni (greeting of the two families) will take place after the Baraat. The Dwar Puja (a puja to welcome the groom) will follow the Milni and then lead into the Bridal Procession and Jaimaal (garland exchange).
Music Night
The Sangeet is a fun night filled with dance performances from our friends and family, dinner, and DJ!
What is a Sangeet?
A traditional night of song and dance filled with performances by both sides of the family! Put on your best dancing shoes and get ready to hit the dance floor!
Wedding Ceremony immediately following Sangeet
Immediately after the sangeet finishes, our friends and family are welcome to stay to watch our wedding ceremony. Traditionally North Indian Hindu wedding ceremonies are done at an auspicious hour at night. It is a Vedic ceremony that takes 2-3 hours and is conducted by our priest (a pandit). Any of our friends or family is welcome to stay to watch the ceremony for as long or as little time as they would like, refreshments will be provided!
Why is the ceremony being held late at night?
Traditionally North Indian Hindu wedding ceremonies are done at an auspicious hour at night. The ceremony is a Vedic ceremony that takes 2-3 hours and is conducted by our priest (a pandit). Any of our friends or family is welcome to stay to watch the ceremony for as long or as little time as they would like, our reception is the next evening so there is time to sleep in and relax beforehand!
