Things to do

STATE STREET: Strap on those walking shoes and hit the streets of one of the most pedestrian-friendly downtowns in the country. If walking isn’t your thing, hop on the electric shuttle for just 50 cents.

THE FUNK ZONE: Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone has become a favorite in recent years. Over the past few decades, this district, which spans the area between the ocean and Highway 101 and is adjacent to the Amtrak station, has enjoyed an upswell of boutique tasting rooms, cafes, galleries, and shops that cater to Santa Barbara’s contemporary side. If you are looking to taste some local wines while you are in town, this is a fun area to do so without visiting a winery. The district includes a self-guided trail of 20+ tasting rooms representing Santa Barbara County wines. More details.

ARTS & CULTURE: Hit up the Santa Barbara Museum of Art or visit one of the city’s historic centerpieces such as the Old Mission, or El Presidio.
