About Haldi Ceremony
As part of the pre-wedding celebrations, this lively and playful event is a cherished tradition in Indian Weddings.
The Haldi ceremony involves the rubbing of yellow turmeric paste (Haldi) onto the couple. Haldi is considered auspicious as it represents purity, fertility and good health.
Wedding Ceremony Rituals
Saafa Bandhaai
In this heartfelt ceremony, the groom, Munjal, will wear a saafa—a traditional bright turban—assisted by his father. This ritual represents the father’s support as Munjal takes on the responsibility of marriage. His mother then blesses him with an aarti and tilak, and applies a kaala tikka (a black kajal mark) behind his ear to ward off evil. With blessings and protection, the groom is now ready to lead his Baraat.
Baraat
The Baraat marks the joyful wedding procession of the groom. Munjal, accompanied by his friends and family, will dance to the rhythm of dhols and drums as they make their way from Rang Mahal to the Mundota Entrance—symbolising the groom’s journey towards his bride.
Varmala
At the arrival, Munjal and Sachi will exchange varmalas (flower garlands) in a beautiful moment that signifies mutual acceptance and a promise to love and respect one another for life.
Hast Milap
The Hast Milap is a sacred ritual that signifies the unification of the couple’s souls. The bride and groom’s right hands are tied together with a sacred cloth, while the priest chants prayers and bestows blessings, symbolising the start of their journey as one.
Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony is a spiritual journey that brings together two hearts, two souls, and two families. For Munjal and Sachi, each ritual is a step in embracing unity, faith, and everlasting love as they begin their sacred journey together in marriage.
