Met at Birth

No. Seriously. We met on the hospital when we were born.

On July 3, 1989, Debi Moses went into labor 7 weeks early. Unknowingly, Debi had a suite mate that day. It was Amy Herman, 2 weeks late and honestly done with being pregnant. In the birthing suite, Amy kept locking Debi out of the bathroom, which as a pregnant woman, sounds awful. Jordan was born on July 3, at 1:54 am. Rachel on the other hand, was born 36 hours later on July 4, at 1:58 pm.

A few months later, both women took their baby to a playgroup in Forest Hills. They begin chatting about their babies, and slowly realized that Amy was the woman who would lock Debi out of the bathroom. They quickly became friends thankfully to their sense of humor and the wonders of new motherhood.

Both families lived in Fresh Meadows for a while and made frequent baby playdates and would even baby sit the kids together so the parents could go out to dinner once in a while. Jordan's family eventually moved to Elmont, New York, while Rachel stayed in Fresh Meadows. Two and a half years later, Jordan got a sister, Molly, while six months after that, Rachel's parents gave her a brother, Robert. (No, they are not dating.)

Growing up, the families would have frequent playdates at each other's houses. Rachel would always brag to her friends, that no matter what, Jordan was her oldest friend. In 1996, Jordan and Molly's parents had another sister, Lily. However, soon after in 1999, Jordan's family moved to Florida.

Living in Florida, Jordan and Rachel lost touch for the most part. They still invited each other to their respective Bar and Bat Mitzvot in 2001 but could not attend, as they were around the same time.

Fast forward to 2004, and the wonders of the internet were really emerging. Rachel was on a fun social platform at the time, called Myspace and got bored and searched up her childhood friends. She easily found Jordan Moses and friended him. It might have taken a year or so, but Jordan eventually messaged her and said "Hey, weren't we best friends as kids?" The myspace messages eventually transformed into facebook messages and eventually texting.

Here's were some innocent text messages get interesting. In 2011 before Jordan did an internship in Queens, they met up and got breakfast at the Blue Bay Diner. They instantly were attracted to each other and hung out the whole day. However, Jordan had to drive back to Florida, and Rachel was moving to Israel for 6 months. Funny side note: Once in Israel, Rachel texted Jordan that he knew that they would get married someday.

When Rachel returned from Israel, they were both in relationships. However, they remained as close friends. By 2015 they were both single again and one thing lead to another and now they're really getting married.
